I think this is what needs to happen in Africa... it'll tone down the violence if nothing else. However, I've read articles and it looks like they're barely independent, and disputes are imminent.

It's just another one of them Y2k's. I think there may be some sort of truth in it, but the world's not going to blow up. The only thing that will happen on Dec 21, 2012 is those "believers" going around, crazy, and that may cause a few deaths, drunk people, etc..
