Well, its an easy process:
1. Assess situation; relative distance, gun or no gun (makes a world of a difference), possible escape routes. Basically: How do I get out of this without getting Gf and self killed.
2. If gun: Goto step 5, if no gun, stay here: The killer has a knife. First thing first, control the knife hand, if running isnt an option. If you can keep the knife hand under control, you're about 50% more likely to survive. Next, go for the low blow. Swing/Kick as hard as you can between the unfortunate fellow's legs, unless its a girl, then punch her in the chest.
3. If killer is down but not out, kick/punch them again then do the following, otherwise, do the following: Killer is in pain. RUN LIKE HELL.'
4. If killer is down AND out AND you're really pissed and wanna send a message - Crush their throat. I dont suggest it as it ends in a jail sentence.
5. Killer has gun - tell your gf to run, kiss her goodbye for the last time, and Leeroy Jenkins the killer. Unless there's distance, than run for your life.
