The Fall: Humanity In Chains

Postby The Divine Potato » 13 Oct 2015, 16:01

(Thanks a huge bunch to Rainshard for creating the titular para rp that gave an inspiration into this converse look into a potentially dark view of Tranquility's future.)

"You do not realise that we are gifted just for being human, we are absolute predators, we do not even have any enemies, but perhaps there are animals out there watching us and thinking that 'someday we will beat them down.' "

-Speech of President Roland Woodring of The People's Council Of Tranquility. Two weeks before the fall.

The Fall was the term given to the outburst of conflict which occurred on that fateful day. The 'empowered' races of Tranquility, along with all other non-human races grew weary of the consistent discrimination by the more numerous humans and non-powered individuals and those they viewed below them. This did not happen all at once of course, it was coaxed by the looks into the history books at past occurrences such as the mysterious 'Kingdom', and the numerous clans before them, it took a while, but eventually those with extraordinary abilities recognised that everyone around them faced the same disdain from the 'lower life forms', the 'cattle' and the 'livestock', and those were the nicest euphemisms that the early dissidents used in their letters. It began with the pacification of the ITPT, they were given large bribes, threats, and demonstrations to show that if they dared to intervene in the complete subjugation of humanity, then they would be recognised as enemies to the cause. The most proud of the higher beings strode in with their hosts and took swathes of unarmed civilians and outgunned militia alike, whilst others ravaged through houses in order to drag people screaming from their houses. It was a curb-stomping to say the least as even the 'weaker' beings could find themselves surrounded by servants who they could most likely face all on their own. However, the ITPT made a bold decision on their own part, they were the group who took by far the most humans, but to everyone's surprise, instead of hoarding them they began to sell them for 'whatever purpose the buyer may desire.' The hope behind the decision was that they would only let those who could afford to keep the now enslaved people with them. And for this they set up huge markets such as central Zen City Market.

Tl;Dr: All other races ganged up on humanity and are now using them as slaves, they are also being sold by the ITPT in large markets.

RULES

1. All RP rules apply.
2. No rifts or teleportation or anything like that to get out of something. You cant just go into some alternate dimension to avoid all the conflict etc.
3. Try and treat this realistically, no super kill everything, etc.
4. This isn't canon so your characters can die but still be alive in RP if you want to add some of that dramatic flair to it.
5. RP characters you regularly use ARE allowed as long as they aren't op as hell.
6. There is no need for a "Name: Age: Abilities:" character bio, just a paragraph about them (similar to how people joined Zombie RP/ The Fall)
7. If you own a slave, then you cannot make a ritual or any sort of power that prevents that slave from escaping or being stolen indefinitely for example a blood ritual which means they can only go a certain distance from you.

BIO CRITERIA

Character you are using should be in your opening post, simply enough. It would be good to have 2 parts to your introductory post, what you did during The Fall and what you are doing now. For example: Enslaved and now in Zen City market, looking to buy a slave at the now booming Zen City market, a resistance fighter trying to free the slaves from the heavy-handed empowered races. Keep in mind that if your character is human, even if they have some degree of power then they are an enemy of the empowered races, but if they are humanoid, to any degree then they will have distinguished themselves as such a long time ago and will be difficult to confuse with a human.

There are three factions you can join:

The empowered races: The character must be non-human or enslaved by a member of the faction. Their goal is to enslave the last resisting remnants of humanity and live like kings, whilst also acquiring, and keeping the most slaves they possibly can, by any means necessary. They are better off in wealth, rights, and strength.

The enslaved humans: The character must of course be human, they may have a power or not, but the 'empowered' races put them to the ground either recently or a while ago. They may only be an ITPT slave right now, seeing as it would be difficult any other way, their goals are to escape captivity and join the resistance more often than not, or just be complacent with their new, pitiful existence. They have no rights, are completely subject to all manner of violence and mistreatment or good treatment from those that buy them.

The human resistance: The character has to be human, again they may or may not have a power, they can be an ex-slave or they could have immediately made their way to the resistance in order to take the fight back to the overwhelmingly powerful beings that had pressed the rest oftheir species into slavery. They are forced to take secretive measures to disguise themselves, more often than not need a power to keep the disguise convincing, and are being hunted by the law.

I am going to make my introduction after this post, and I hope the rest of you take interest too.

"Go and reinforce our branch in Zen City. We have received word about an increase in activity from the heretics." Were the orders that Karin Miyamoto received from her green-haired superior Intanae, a simple order really, in the sentence and in that of the task it represented, she would be back within a matter off weeks and then she would get another order that would be trivial in the light of her skill. She was often referred to as 'a prodigy' and 'the next grand master' at only 21 years of age so what had she to fear from a routine reinforcement like this? In fact, it almost seemed like overkill to send her there, even alone she had the skill to wipe the floor with several monsters in melee combat at once, but it was a routine that she had to adhere to. She had been to Tranquility once or twice in the past, there was nothing really significant she could say about it. The clip of her boot strap sounded as she buckled it on, along with the rest of the 'ceremonial' chain mail beneath scale mail beneath iron armor. She just was glad that she didn't need a helmet, her violet hair had ended up getting to long to be comfortably fit in it as it draped by her elbows, it's ends at uneven lengths cried out to be cut. She would be able to better see with her light purple eyes.

The journey through the portal was never something she fancied, a nauseating mix of flashing lights, sharp turns as if gravity was trying to pull you in different directions all at once, but it was worth it for immediate transport. She found herself in the designated 'warp sigil' that her order had placed in order to make sure that teleporting to Tranquility was like opening a door into another room rather than spinning a globe and putting your finger on it to stop it, that you wouldn't end up in a random location. It was here she would spend the next few weeks with her brothers and sisters of the Dawnbringer order. A place that she well and truly called home.

It only took one week for The Fall to hit.

She was disturbed from her sleep by a rattling outside, you always had to be able to wake up at the slightest sound when your life was on the line, in some loose-fitting bedclothes she got up from her rest and peered out the window to see a truly chaotic site outside. Soldiers with the ITPT crest marching through the streets, breaking into homes and dragging people out from their homes. She wouldn't have much time before she would end up like the tiny boy who was being lifted by the scruff by a burly man. She rushed over to her bed in order to grab her sword and shield and that is when she heard the THUD and the CRUNCH of the door frame as a battering ram knocked it through, she could only just draw her sword and turn to face the intruders when she felt an electrifying tingle wash across her entire body and see that a bright blue projectile had left the stun weapon of one of the soldiers breaking in.

She lost consciousness as she seen the second person subjected to those weapons go down.

When she awoke, about two days later from what she assumed from the reaction of her captors her hands were held above her head by a pair of ethereal blue handcuffs. She was still in the clothes she had been picked up in, but she couldn't have felt any more naked at that stall, where people would come up to examine the merchandise they may be purchasing, the occasional nip of skin, the examining closely, or even asking her to speak made her feel like an animal in a zoo. What she found out however, to a bit of relief was that her price tag of 'Arventian Human' had quite a large number of digits compared to the rest, meaning that, thankfully more of her kin had not been subjected to her fate.

"Another Job John, this time something new." His long-time buddy Sam spoke as he took a sip of an amber liquid from his cup. John was sitting next to him, wearing his traditional garb of a cloak though his hood was off to reveal a man who defied time itself, still a youthful looking 26 year old man, his face looking clean while his hair was left untouched, maintaining a very interesting natural look to it. He had taken on many jobs to support himself, odd jobs ranging from transportation to protection. "Something... is going to go down... and we need info." He pointed out at a spot where the future marketplace would be held. That was all he needed to hear as he got up and walked off, being the silent type that he was.

That was 3 weeks ago before the Fall occurred.

On the day of the Fall, he saw it happen, people rounded up by these strange people in uniform, bearing a strange crest that was faintly familiar. He watched women, children, men get rounded up and hauled away. His natural instinct to protect others forced him to fight them, leaping head first into a group of about 8 itpt soldiers. What occurred was a brawl, as he floored each one, despite being tased multiple times. Eventually, he was overwhelmed, succumbing to the near endless flow of reinforcements. The last thing he saw was the people he was trying to save, fleeing for their lives as they scattered from the brawl before his vision blacked out.

He looked over to his right, seeing the young lady open her eyes as she looked completely surprised of where she was. Just like Karin, he had a label as well, on it was Human, being the lowest compared to the lady next to him but he sighed. "Good morning to you Sleepy-head," He said to Karin as he was also handcuffed like her, but his arms were behind his back and his body was covered in blue chains, an unusual thing as the other humans didn't have them. His face changed now, though he was still wearing the same clothes, his hair was more ragged, there were bruises on his face from the beatings he endured along with facial hair growing all around his chin and upper lip, he looked like he aged about 10 years as he looked at the people stare at him and whisper things, some words he could pick up like Dangerous, Brute, Vicious. They had no idea who they had captured he thought as he was fiddling with his restraints.

In a shocking turn of events, Xander never had a chance to witness The Fall. Two weeks before the event was set in motion, a group of corrupt agents met together to discuss the fates of Xander. They knew he would not support the enslavement and trafficking of the an entire race. A 'gas malfunction' led to the explosion in his office giving way to his untimely death.

Damien on the other hand, the unruly youth Xander had interviewed weeks before, managed to escape the initial roundup. His simple control of electricity convinced any agents he crossed that he had been a simple elemental. Of course, this ruse would not protect him forever. Many other humans with abilities had escaped with similar tricks. Rigorous tests started to take place, identification issued to those with correct genetic proof of their inhumanity. Either way, he didn't seem to mind. Damien had no intentions on changing his career path, instead he embraced the change. The underground resistance hosted a great number of black markets, ones he could easily profit from. At first, the ITPT was just a temporary hindrance.

So, of course, when one of the resistance fighters offered him a big score he couldn't resist. It was simple: Go into the Zen Market, bring back a few humans for the resistance, get more money, get more jobs. He made his way into the market, overloading the identification terminals and walking past as the agents struggled to get the sparking screens working again. It was somewhat unnerving, seeing the endless cages full of people. A small cage had been flooded with children, looking like grotesque puppets at some kind of sick show, bones protruding and pushing out their grey chests. He shuddered and pushed past the hoard of people browsing the slaves, resting against one of the nearby cages.

The wind howled, hounds were howling in off key tones. It was night, 3 weeks before 'The Fall'. That's what they called it.. In the midst of the disgusting, yet somewhat soothing sounds of the off-key snarling, and howling, a man stood, looking at the skies above. A golden colored longsword lay at his left side, he wore steel plate leg armor. On his torso was a light steel plated chest piece. A cloak was above that, it had a faded symbol. The symbol had 3 letters visible: "A-O---E".

The skies were serene, the moon glistened, as well as the stars. The man shifted, uncomfortably, before he began to walk away from the howling, toward the kingdom he called 'home'. The name of it was 'Frookvale'..

Frookvale happened to be home to the magnanimous leader, Foopford the First. He ruled with an iron fist, and often confided in his strongest warrior, his bodyguard.
The man made his way through the drawbridged wall, a moat surrounding the kingdom. The townsfolk looked happy to see this man, but he kept looking to the skies. A yellow streak swam across the milky skies, and the man knew.

"Something is not right.... that comet was not due for another 5 years." The man spoke in a deep, almost monotonous voice. His short blonde hair glinted in the presence of the comet, and then stopped immediately after it had disappeared.

The man made heavy footsteps toward the main castle, he had to speak with him. This was something foretold for many generations. As he arrived at the castle doors, a man clad in heavy black armor stood guard. He carried a greatshield and greatsword of the same color.

"Lord Mattias, what brings you here at this late an hour? His Majesty is sleeping." The knight spoke, solemnly.

"Tarkus, allow me through... Something bad is going to happen, I can feel it in my bones." The man, now known as Mattias spoke urgently, and Tarkus understood. He opened the gate to the castle, and allowed him inside.

Something definitely isn't right...

"Something definitely isn't right." Foopford had said, weeks later, in chains. "I am nobility." He scoffed, swinging a pick at his own shackles. "There's no way in hell I'm staying here." Wearing the rags issued to all of the slaves of the empowered, having finally broken the chain with that swing, he sat down for a moment. He gave the signal to Mattias across the yard, and began to get into character. Sweat rolling down his face, which began to turn red, he clutched his stomach. A guard approached him. "Hey--Get up." Foopford would, on cue, vomit. "Bit--" A violent cough, for good measure, "--Busy, peasant." He hoped Mattias got the message.

R0ger was a state of the art automaton--At least in 20th century Earth. He had been loyal to the ITPT, specifically Erwin and then Cerise, for centuries. However, when The Fall had occurred, the new ITPT had reprogrammed him to be a killing machine despite his predisposition to collect information. Sadly, this killing machine was no longer state of the art.

It staggered along a forest path rigidly. It was looking for any humans for his leaders to...enslave, right? It thought. It began to rain. A spark flew off of its chassis. It made a screeching noise akin to a fax machine and hid beneath a tree. Human-finding could wait.

After meeting up with Foopford that night, civil unrest began to fester the next day, until it exploded in attacks on human establishments, thousands were killed, even more were captured, put into slavery.

... Including Mattias and Foopford. Tarkus managed to escape, and was going to be our way out. Days had past, and Mattias was forced to be interrogated, but his iron will was unbreakable. They had to stop the torture before they crippled him. They being the grotesque experiments from 'The Facility' they being Vampires, they being countless other creatures often feared and hated.

Mattias was forced into hard work, mining for resources, like a slave. It was not work he had never done, but his previous experiences made this seem like a walk in the park. He mined 13 hours a day, was tortured for 2 hours a day, and the rest of the time he was confined to his cell.

He used this time to devise a plan, a counter-revolution, with Foopford. They eventually came up with a fool-proof plan of escape, and they were going to be out, to start a resistance against the non humans. Mattias did not see his species as superior, but he was not about to be enslaved.

Day in, day out, they planned. And finally, the perfect opportunity arose. Foopford gave him the signal, and created a scene. Mattias lunged at the guard, which happened to be a demon from the depths of Prophet's world. He wrapped his shackles around the throat of it, and choked him, he ended up using so much force that he snapped his neck. He looted the fuard for keys, and a weapon, which happened to be a scimitar.

Mattias unlocked his shackles, and then Foopford's, and let him free. Mattias knew the plan was to get their gear and leave, but he could not leave the innocent people there to rot. He still made his way to the armory, and stabbed another guard, a satyr.

"Take his blade, just in case." He spoke quietly, and unlocked the door. "Take his keys, and any other important items."

He bursted into the armory, and saw his gear, he collected it, and donned the armor. He threw down the guard's scimitar, and grasped his blade, Akenome. Akenome, 'Piercer of the Heavens' in the ancient nomad tongue.
These guards were stupid enough to leave it virtually unguarded.

"We are going to take this prison, and free these people. Then we are gonna find as many others as we can. We need to free Ayaka first, though." Mattias spoke back to Foopford.

The fall was a harsh time for humanity, many were killed or ended up locked in prisons. It was unfortunate for them, but heaven for the Shades. Ammortal creatures that distilled fear and humility upon their victims, in turn feasting off the negative emotions. Where one shade was, there would often be several others, amplifying the heavy fog of despair that each one cast. These cloaked creatures were often hired by the empowered races to guard parts of the prisons, as well as hunt for any remaining strands of humanity that havent been captured. They appeared to amble along the halls of the prisons on the knuckles of their long gangly hands, joint to their decaying fleshy arms. A curling black and white striped tail seemed to simply exist out from beneath the creatures cloaks, while a long prehensile tongue drooped from the hole in their hood.

There were several shades rasping and hissing to each other in the hall of one of the prisons, one of the shades was rather larger than the others, the larger ones were the leaders of the shade race. There were about 10 of these leaders, and each was given a name by their creator, Death himself, or more accurately known as Grius Hellscythe, king of the Underworld. This particular leader was named M'Thulnir and was highly praised by his former master. Of the 10, 6 resided in the realm of the living, where they had been the first of their kind to exist beyond the dark plains of the Underworld. They took quickly to living in the slums of overly crowded cities, feeding off the weak and the poor, working their way through the masses and turning any positive emotion into despair. Now thousands of shades existed in this realm, each one born thanks to the despair that their brethren placed upon the land, the more harsh and negative the environment, the more shades would be born in it.

Suddenly the shades were alerted to prisoners attempting an escape and immediately set off, each one slithering down the hall like a snake, reaching the place where a fallen guard and two prisoners were. Several of the shades screeched and hissed as M'Thulnir grasped the man known as Foopford, while two others grasped the other man, one of them unarming him and throwing the scimitar away. The shades hissed in unison and divided the pair up, the two holding Mattias threw him into a cell, and both remained outside hissing and rasping at the man, they stared eyelessly at him, trying to invade his mind like a drug. They would typically subdue their victims with hallucinations, inflicting mental stabs of pain and anguish until their victim begged for it to stop.

M"Thulnir dragged Foopford off into the other direction, bringing him to a higher ranked demon, who ordered that he be reshackled and sent off to the market to be sold. The shade then dragged the man who was screaming to be released by now off towards the market where plenty of slaves were being sold off to private owners. There were auctions, raffles, you name it, plenty of methods to sell the captured humans. It would only be a matter of time before Foopford was off serving a master, he seemed like he was worth quite an amount, although there was never a way a shade would be able to tell, they were simply grunts of the undead world.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ivory Blackthorn was sitting at a bar, sipping a strong smelling red substance served in a Martini glass. She was having a ball since humanity was driven into slavery. She had splurged quite the amount, buying off several adolescent females, three of which she held with her currently, chained up to her wrist. With a smirk she admired her purchases, the girls were whimpering and shivering, their misery only enticed Ivory more. She figured that because of how miserable they were, they had previously had some sort of semblance of wealth, which meant that they were worth the coin, and at the high price that they were, she assumed that they were still untainted, which worked to her favour.

For those who simply glanced at Ivory, it would seem bizzare that a human was leading other humans off as if they owned them. But she was not human, she was half demon, half vampire, born to the royalty Blackthorn clan, they are direct descendants of Lilith, the very first demon, and evolved from one line of her daughter over time to become the vampires they were today, they were different to traditional vampires however, one was not turned into a vampire, they were born into the family. It was believed that hundreds of years ago, a mortal managed to steal a vial of Blackthorn blood, injecting it to become the mutant that most call traditional vampires of today, where biting a victim transforms them. Ivory was different from her clan in that instead of grey or black hair, hers was snow white due to her being a genetic throwback, as demonic blood mingled with that of the vampire, creating a hybrid.

Ivory finished the drink and left a dracomir next to the glass, it was a hefty tip and would likely be equal to the bartenders monthly wage, but why should Ivory be the only one with coin, she was after all in a spending mood. She begun to walk off back towards the market, pulling the chain that connected her three newest servants. Moving through the market was rather tough, considering how many beasts and races flooded the area, searching for the best slaves to buy. Ivory slipped into one of the makeshift huts where people would often sell their most prized slaves.

"Reginald, good to see you again, i hear you have a rather good stock today" She smiled as she talked to the plump little red man, twin horns burst from his head just beneath his bowlers hat.

"Ah yes Miss Blackthorn, come, look, high quality and cheap." He spoke with a rather middle eastern rasp of a voice. He bobbled along and showed off his three best slaves, One was a rather muscular male, with a short afro and handlebar moustache, Ivory ignored his presence and instead turned to the two females. The younger of the pair, a girl of about 9 was drying, red weepy eyes against her pale skin, she seemed like she was freezing.

"Details of the little one?" Ivory inquired, the young girl sparked an interest, even if she wouldnt use the girl as a feeding platform, or a maiden, the girl could prove to be worthwhile.

"Ah yes, this little one is the daughter of a rather renounced dentist from these parts before things turned. I say this because without him i wouldnt have this gleaming smile, hehehe. Now she is aged ten, can both read and write, and has been taught how to farm, even though you have no need for that, i suggest you purchase her, lets say 12,000?" The greedy little devilman smiled, rubbing his hands together at the thought of that amount of money.

Ivory glanced at the other woman, she was old and reeked of death and rats. Ivory peered at the girl, her iridescent blue eyes briefly flashing red as she evaluated the slave before her. "Not much to this one, what are you trying to do, scam me out of my money?"

"Oh no Miss Blackthorn, i would never dare of doing that, this woman comes from the slums however she is quite popular among the men, she previously sold herself for money anyways so its not too different to her being a slave, id say about 10,000."

"10,00!?!" Ivory shrieked as she turned and picked up the fat little man. "HOW DARE YOU PLACE SUCH A SUM AGAINST ME, I THOUGHT I COULD TRUST YOU REGINALD, BUT OBVIOUSLY NOT IF YOU TRY TO SCAM ME LIKE THIS."

Intimidated by the demonic vampires sudden outburst the little devilman shrunk into his blazer. He could see icy cold fire in the young temptress's eyes. "5,000?" He squeaked.

Ivory sighed and put the little man back down. "She is a mongrel, half human half faery, tainted by hundreds of men, reeks of an indescribable smell and she has the most awful tasting blood type. i would not pay 1,000 for this trash. The young one however, i guess she will suffice, but i wont go a cent over 11."

"She cost me 11,500, how am i meant to get a profit." the man grunted gruffly.

"Dont lie to me Reginald, i know you got her cheap, like all the trash you usually end up with. 11 otherwise i will take my business elsewhere." Her voice was as cold as ice, but sharp as a knife as the very words dug into the devil before her.

"Fine, 11, but no more bargaining with you, i wont be able to earn a cent if you keep this up."

Ivory tossed the man two dracomirs and scoffed. "Do you really believe you are in a position to threaten me like that? I will inform the Lucifer if i need to, i assume he would be very pleased to learn just how greedy you are, oooh how i imagine you squealing like a pig when he tortures you. Toodles." Ivory left after speaking her mind, exiting the hut through the door flaps.

Reginald quivered in fear, he really did not want the devil prince investigating his greedy little gut, he simply bowed as the vampire left his services.

Not quite looking where she was going, Ivory bumped into a black haired beauty, her eyebrows rose as she realised exactly who it was, anger immediately begun to bubble inside of her as her eyes narrowed. The black haired woman did the same as she too recognised a member of the family hers was at feud with. Ivory looked to the right and behind of the woman before her, she grimaced at the seven slaves following her, clearly she was flaunting her status about. The pair both nodded at each other and muttered their opposites last name, as was custom of Underworlders.

The black haired woman stepped to the side of Ivory and entered the hut. Ivory continued on her voyage but instead went towards the exit of the market, she was troubled now after seeing her, she knew that she was exiled and banished, but she had no idea she was here on this world. "So the betrayer is gathering slaves too, undoubtedly to turn into the undead. Newt, you better be careful, because Sasha Hellscythe has come to town."

In most situations Karin had found that she was fighting against what seemed like impossible odds, but this was outrageous. It was as if the world had turned upside down, the whole order of nature had been pulled apart and replaced by this crude and dark system, and she found herself as a cog in it. When she had woken up she was looking around, attempting to get a gauge of what was happening, her eyes went through the crowd picking out monster after monster that she knew, and even those she couldn't identify the name of, but she was sure mushrooms growing from your chin and mycelium for a beard was definitely not something that normal humans did. All the whilst her hands were trying to pull down hard, but she rapidly found out that they were attached to the wall; And despite the groaning of a fixture and the grinding of the masonry there would be no budging and where would she go even if she got free, and out of the shackles? The simple answer would be straight back into them, as the hulking demonic figure cracked what seemed to be a pacifier for both rowdy buyers and escaping slaves who served as the one bartering them off for some money in order to find them some rich person to be a servant to, and not end up as some penniless serial-killer's torture doll.

She heard someone who's voice wasn't sinking into the background finally, and wasn't merely browsing them and wincing at the outrageous price tag on herself, and the particularly... Worn merchandise beside her; But wait, that 'merchandise' was speaking to her, and despite having the face of an ex pit-fighter he had such a sweet voice, like the voice of someone who got those bruises protecting something dear to him. Karin was certainly not made of steel and a friendly voice has to elicit a response in this situation. Her head turned towards the man, seeing the tag that he bore she knew she could at least sympathise with his case, and wasn't obligated to purge him from the earth. "Hey, what the hell happened here?" She spoke in a soft, low voice so that the vendor wouldn't hear her.

But just as she called out to John she felt a warm touch against her own wrist that she couldn't quite ignore. It was the sight of a young woman who seemed in late twenties with bright blue wavy hair which was so thick and long it would suffice as a noose, a pair of closed eyes and fangs just about to poke right into the soft flesh of her wrist. This person would have succeeded if they had perhaps a friend who could keep the vendor distracted, because the sharp CRACK of the pacifier against the table caused the woman to jump away with ruffled plumage and a quick response. "Just joking, Harkon, you know how I like to examine your new mer-" She was abruptly interrupted by the bellowing of the behemoth easily eight feet in comparison to the vampire's five seven. "GRISHA TEPES THAT IS THE LAST TIME YOU WILL EVER BE SEEING ANY OF MY MERCHANDISE YOU FILTHY LOWLIFE! EITHER YOU BUY SOMETHING OR YOU GET OUT AND NEVER RETURN!" There was a wince from the woman and then a small smirk as she eyed Karin for a second. "I have a feeling there's someone who will buy your crap." This was followed by the closing of the door and a few minutes silence, before it returned to the buzzing chatter of the hut.

Grisha Tepes was, and always had been a vampire, not one of those purist Blackthorns, her line had a more heroic backstory, of stealing the blood of one of them to create the first progenitor of vampires, Vlad Tepes, she was the third progenitor, daughter of the first and second. She herself had taken a great interest in the planning of the fall, mainly seeing as she carried a fully fledged hatred towards humans, along with the desire to easily get blood, as her hunger often found it... Draining, on those she feasted on. She had taken the chance to go into the cities with her family, everyone had their fair share of humans, obviously the pecking order was set in place with 'it all belongs to the first progenitor' in mind, so that turned out to be an anticlimax. The occasional bites of her dear daddy's blood servants she eventually got were always the bitter and ruined ones, not the ones he kept to his wife and himself. So after a long period of disputes she finally made a compromise between her father, she could have all the slaves she wanted and they would not be touched, but she would be buying them with her own money, typical.

She was looking for one person in particular whom under normal occasions she would have threw aside the entire crowd to cause a scene with, it was one of her favourite hobbies to make life that little bit harder for Ivory Blackthorn. In normal cases the crowd would make it difficult to pinpoint her, but Ivory was trailing about three pure fair flowers so it was like trying to disguise yourself in a pile of manure with a bottle of perfume and a can of air freshener, making her one of the easiest people to find in this entire market.

She happened to brush past a small rapscallion which gave her a sharp electric shock, but as she was turning around to berate the person to watch where they were going they had already made themselves scarce into the crowd. What a shame, they had an unusual smell about them for one of the empowered.

With an eternal flair for the dramatic that she purposefully put on in order to add to her obnoxious factor she raised up her finger in the air and yelled "IVORY BLACKTHORN." Before pointing straight at the person in question. "You drag about such rabble with you, are you trying to make yourself look like a beggar!? A member of the Blackthorns, my eternal rival should only be seen with the most expensive and pure livestock they could get their hands on! Allow me to show you to something that actually makes you look like you're worthy to compete with lil' old me!" Grisha took Ivory's hand roughly, like if one were trying to give a one-handed Chinese burn, thankfully for her personal health this was a usual thing that she could get away with disdain over. Her family was nowhere near as powerful as the blackthorns, but they had instilled that image in the populace with the myths of vampires, and their powers. She knew there was going to be complaining as she yanked Ivory into the stall she had just visited.

Re: The Fall: Humanity In Chains

With a smirk on his face, and a chuckle that emanated from his mouth, he spoke to the lady that he had addressed. "They're rounding up everyone who is human and selling them to beings who are considered far superior to us." He'd sigh as he thought of something, thinking of one of his old friends Sasha, a half harpie half human. He knew that she would always support him but he wanted to know if she was ok. In the meantime, his eyes observed Karin for a second before looking at the woman who was examining her.

A chill sort of ran down his spine as he stifled his showing of fear. There was nothing human about that woman who gave Karin the light brush on her wrist, she smells of fear, evil, and the ironic scent of blood. His mind, at work now, was figuring out the chains on his body. Karin could see each and every one on him, there were about 12 different chains, most of them were blue, but some were of other colors, red, green, yellow. Each of them having a different ability to nullify some sort of empowered strength. John actually figured out half of his chains, he put them at the edge of undoing while the lady named Grisha left the stall.

He'd continue speaking when she left, "I have a bad feeling about her..." He'd look at Karin now as he spoke, "May I ask for your name miss?" He seemed so at least in what was going on, it seemed like it didn't even affect him in the least, a testament to his ability to remain calm during very stressful situations. He looked at the behemoth of a creature that ordered that woman to leave, he knew that the seller was going to be a challenge. Being part demon naturally instilled that being with a sense of immunity to most pains, something that he had figured out but would save it for now. The demon looked at John as he saw him squirming a bit, the crack of the whip was heard as it struck John on the left side of his body, leaving a gash that bled as he shouted at him, "STOP YOUR SQUIRMING, IF I EVER SEE YOU MOVE ONE MORE TIME, I'LL WHIP YOU EVEN MORE." He winced in pain as his mind seem to blur a bit from the pain. He would stay silent as he stopped moving, waiting for the Demon to stop looking at him before continuing his work.

John was about 75% done, 9 of his chains were close to unlocking before the door opened up again as the same lady came in with another. The air seemed colder, the feeling that he had from Grisha was multiplied as he felt his breath leave his body. He did not expect the other lady to come in as he stopped moving altogether. These ladies had the feel of death around them, his head screamed of escape as he wanted to move, but he had a feeling they would notice. His eyes were on the two, watching them with the intent of studying them, he was afraid but he was more worried about Karin next to him as he did it to take the attention off of her. He would whisper over to Karin, knowing they would notice him, "Do you trust me? Miss Karin?" He asked as at this point, he was on his 11th chain. He accepted a job before, to know what was going on, and he had fulfilled his mission. He had to escape this "marketplace" but to do it was going to take more than just him... His lips curled into a smile as he formulated a plan, a plan that would make the empowered and the ITPT look like the laughing stock.
