Chapter 12

“How do you know this?” Deadfire asked, with curisoity in his eyes. “Nightfang talked to me. She told me stuff about SilverClan, and said that a cat named Goldenheart was her mate,” Applepaw replied.
Then Sandclaw popped her head out of the camp entrance. “Hey guys! Come in! Redkit is having her apprentice ceramony!” Sandclaw meowed. Stoneclaw purred, and Briarwish smiled.
“Goldenheart, you can come in if you like, to watch the ceramony,” Stoneclaw said. Goldenheart nodded, and walked in with the other cats.
“Goldenheart!!! You made it!!!!” Nightfang yowled. She ran up to Goldenheart, and pressed muzzles together.
“Yes, I did make it. I came to tell you that the other clans have left SilverClan territory, and we can go back.”
“Go back?” Birchkit's little body had appeared right behind then. “But I don't want to go back. I like it here. I like learning from Nighttail, and...and-” Birchkit stopped.
Nightfang walked over, and wrapped her tail around her son. “Birchkit, don't you miss Feathershine? Don't you miss Hollywhisper? I bet she misses you,” Nightfang soothed.
Tears covered Birchkit's face. “But I don't wanna go back! I want to stay here, in RockClan!” Birchkit wailed. “We can always come back, a visit them, you know.” Goldenheart meowed.
“May all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather around the Rockpile for a clan meeting!” Rockstar yowled. The conversation had stopped, and the cats of RockClan slowly came together, and gathered underneath the Rockpile. Redkit bursted out of the nursery, with one side of her fur smoothed out, and the other half all puffed out.
Honeyfur ran out of the nursery. “Redkit! I haven't finished grooming you!” Honeyfur yowled. Redkit ignored her, and sat down under the Rockpile. Honeyfur gave up, and sat down next to Redkit.
“RockClan, it is time to make a new apprentice today. Her name is, Redkit,” Rockstar jumped down, and landed gracefully infront of the little kit, “Redkit, do you promise that you will leanr the warrior code, and protect the clan, even if it will cost you your life?” Rockstar aksed.
“Ye-yes I do,” Redkit stampered. “Good. Then by the powers of StarClan, until you become a warrior, your name will be Redpaw. Sandclaw, you will mentor this young cat,” Sandclaw greeted Redpaw with the touching of noses. “Redpaw!!! Redpaw!!” The clan cheered.
Honeyfur yelled her daugher's new name the loudest. Tigerpaw greeted Redpaw, and led her to the apprentice's den.
The camp entrance ruslted. Out came Sunflower. She had cuts all over her body. Stoneclaw ran up to her. “What happened?” Stoneclaw asked firmly. He began licking the wounds to clean them Birchkit also ran up.
“Leopardshine...he's.... attacking our camp....with rouges....from WaterClan,” Sunflower meowed, then fell to the ground.
“She's loosing to much blood!” Birchkit yelled. He darted to the Medicine Cat's den, and came back with a bundle of herbs. “Applepaw was right!” Deadfire yowled.
“Leopardshine has become a rouge! And he had followers. Rockstar, we must send help to TreeClan!”
Rockstar nodded. “Stoneclaw, organize the patrols. Sunflower, stay here, Nighttail will fix you up.” “Already ahead of you, Rockstar,” Nighttail padded over to Sunflower. What's happening? Birchkit started applying cobwebs to Sunflower's wounds, and Nighttail chewed up some herbs, and spat the juice out.
“I want Deadfire, Mousetail, Grayheart, Nightwatcher, Thorntail, Briarwish, Oakpaw, Snakepaw, and Tigerpaw. Come with me,” Stoneclaw ordered. Stoneclaw headed out of the camp, and the cats that were chosen, followed.
Oakpaw rose form his feet, and ran to catch up. “Oakpaw, wait!” Oakpaw turned around, and saw Applepaw running up to him. I don't have time for this, Applepaw! “Oakpaw,” Applepaw meowed when she caught up. She pressed her muzzle on his cheek. “Please come back.” Applepaw stepped back, and padded back to the crowd of confused cats.
Oakpaw nodded to her, and ran out the camp, and to the patrol. “Oakpaw, I thought you chickened out of this battle!” a voice sneered. Oakpaw looked to his side, to see Tigerpaw. He shot a glare at Tigerpaw, before running up to his father.
“Dad, will the Festival be canceled?” Oakpaw asked. Stoneclaw thought for a moment. “No. This is a rouge attack. If a Clan was attacking another Clan, on the day of the Festival, then we would have canceled the Festival, and bring it to another day. Maybe even the next.”
Oakpaw nodded. Moments pasted, then Snakepaw also came up. “Dad, are we going to go to the Gathering, to see all the other clans?” Snakepaw asked. “Well, I think that Rockstar will let us go, but I don't think the other Clans might want to go. It all depends on this Festival tonight,” Stoneclaw replied.
Snakepaw stared blankly ahead, before lagging back, to talk with Tigerpaw. Tigerpaw greeted his den mate with a smile, and Snakepaw nodded to the stripped apprentice.
When Oakpaw took a deep breath, he noticed that they had crossed the border. Oakpaw felt a tinge in his stomach. Two battles so close to each other...This forest isn't at peace, is it? Oakpaw thought a little about it, but his thoughts were interrupted, by Stoneclaw's flick of his tail. That was the signal that they were near TreeClan camp.
Oakpaw could hear screams and wails of cats, and Tigerpaw became a little antsy. Stoneclaw turned around, and faced the patrol.
“You must be quit, and not make any movements. We can't alert the enemy.” Stoneclaw turned around, and flicked his tail and ears, to signal to follow.
The patrol crouched, and moved as fast as the could. They came nearer and near to a entrance, and Stoneclaw jumped up, and Oakpaw's instincts told him to do also. He charged in, and yowled at the tom of his lungs, “RockClan, attack!” the rest of the RockClan patrol poured into the TreeClan camp Oakpaw jumped on a WaterClan she-cat, and sank his claws in her back. She wailed, and shook vigerously to get Oakpaw off. Oakpaw held tight, and digged deeper. Finally, the she-cat fell, and Oakpaw let go, and the she-cat stumbled to her paws, and ran.
Oakpaw peered in the battle, and smelled blood, mixed with WaterClan and TreeClan scents, and the newly added, RockClan scents. He saw that the WaterClan cats had been backed in a corner, seeming that TreeClan was doing fine on their own.
“It's good you guys showed up.” Oakpaw whiped around, to see the TreeClan deputy, Wildfire. Oakpaw nodded to the red tom, and lunged into the battle.
It seemed like TreeClan and RockClan had made a wall, and let no WaterClan rouges get out. “You are all making a grave mistake! Ripplestar will kill you all!” The voice seeemed unfamiliar at first, but then he realized it was Leopardshine, former Waterclan deputy.
Brackenstar faced the spotted tom, with Stoneclaw and Wildfire standing next to him. “What do you mean?” Brackenstar hissed.
“You fools!” Leopardshine spat, “I left with my most loyal warriors, because Ripplestar is a mad cat! You will all die!” Leopardshine spat.”I never meant to kill Flamepaw. I hope he has made a safe journey to StarClan,” Leopardshine added solemly.
“Ripplestar wants to rule the forest! He said so, and then we left! We didn't want to stay.” A dark blue tom meowed. Oakpaw realized it was Reedmist, the tom he fought in the battle at MoonClan's camp.
Leopardshine nodded in agreement. “We never meant to attack. Ripplestar has given us a small portion of Northern WaterClan territory. I am leading this new clan,” Leopardshine explained.

Chapter 13

“A new clan? But there has always been four clans!” Stoneclaw growled.. “Yes, there has always, been four clans in this forest!” Wildfire agreed. Brackenstar flicked his tial to silence them. Wildfire sat up straighter, and Stoneclaw glared at the TreeClan leader, and looked back at Leopardshine.
Leopardshine glared at them. “Not anymore. Things change. I think that StarClan will agree. If they do then they will give me my nine lives, in a newly founded cave under a stream.” Leopardshine dipped his head, to Brackenstar.
“I am sorry for attacking your clan. I was merely trying to warn you, but your warriors attacked us.”
A sleek blue tom came up to Leopardshine's side. “Shouldn't we get going home, hmm? I need to start making hunting patrols. Willowfeather needs food,” the blue tom meowed.
“Yes, Waterstorm. We will be going,” Leopardshine answered. Waterstar flicked his tail to have a small blue tom come up. “Riverpaw, I want you to scout ahead, in case any WaterClan patrols' attack us.” It's Riverpaw! Good thing he left. Riverpaw nodded.
Riverpaw saw Oakpaw, and smiled, and ran out of TreeClan's entrance. This...This new clan. I wonder how the other cats will take it? The cats of TreeClan and RockClan looked uncertain about this new clan. “Hmf, I've always thought that Leopardshine got banished!” meowed a blue tom with black stripes.
Leopardshine frowned. “You thought wrong then, my friend.” The new clan slowly began to leave.
“RockClan cats, we're leaving,but we'll be back soon,” Stoneclaw said Oakpaw ran up to his father. “Are we going to be allies with them?” Oakpaw asked. From the looks of it, it doesn't seem like they'll survive for a while.
Stoneclaw frowned. “No, but MoonClan might. Leopardshine and Dawnstar do think the same thing; they want Ripplestar dead, but I hope they won't cause much trouble.” Oakpaw nodded, and looked around to find Snakepaw.
We haven't talked in so long. He saw Snakepaw talking with Tigerpaw. Oakpaw flciked his ear, and tried to hear what they were saying.
“I don't think Ripplestar wants to rule the forest!” Tigerpaw growled. “I think that Leopardshine was lying. I bet he got banished, for killing poor Flamepaw!”
Snakepaw shook his head. “I believe Leopardshine. He's been WaterClan deputy for a long time, and at the Festivals, he seems so fair,” Snakepaw replied, “He seems like a loyal cat, that thinks his leader is up to something he doesn't want to be apart of, and, from the looks of it, a lot of other cats thought the same way.”
Tigerpaw snorted. “Well-” Snakepaw cut him off, “I do hope he gets his nine lives. I wonder what he's going to name his clan!”
“Probaly LeopardClan,” Tigerpaw meowed. “No, not a clan named after one of our ancestors! That would be a stupid choice to do that. I bet StarClan would be angry!” Snakepaw hissed.
Tigerpaw shook his head. “I think he will come up with a name by the time if the Festival. But I still hate him.”
“RockClan, we're leaving!” Stoneclaw yowled. The RockClan cats gathered around the camp entrance, and headed off. The ground was covered in a thin layer of snow. Did is snow when the battle was taking place? The paws of the battle patrol crunched as each step broke the snow. Birds flew away, and bushes ruslted. We're scaring their prey!
Soon, the trees disappeared, and the land became rocky. The smell of RockClan filed Oakpaw's nose, and Oakpaw sighed in relief, to be back at home. A bush shook, and out came Minttail, with two mice dangling from her mouse. Minttail nodded to the patrol, and dashed off to camp. She's going to tell
Oakpaw walked in the camp entrance. The cats of RockClan, had gathered around the clearing, waiting for the patrol to come home. “Oakpaw!” A red she-cat was running to him. It's Applepaw!
Oakpaw heard Tigerpaw hissed. “Oakpaw, I was so worried! I was thinking that Leopardshine would kill you!” Applepaw exclaimed.
“Why would he do that?” Oakpaw asked. Oh yeah, she doesn't know the truth. “Wasn't Leopardshine a rouge, with his band of other rouges?” Applepaw asked. “Um, well, it's not like that...” Oakpaw tried to explain.
Oakpaw saw that Stoneclaw, was explaining what had happened, in the clearing. “Applepaw, go there,” Oakpaw meowed, and angled his ears to point to the clearing, “Stoneclaw is explaining what had happened.
Rockstar was sitting next to Toadfur and Tallfur. Deadfire and Goldenfur were sitting next to each other, oddly close. Goldenfur's belly was a little bigger then usual.
She must be having kits...with Deadfire? Oakpaw shook the thought out of his mind. Then a pain in Oakpaw's tail shot through his body. What the...? Oakpaw turned around, to see Birchkit, biting down on his tail.
Birchkit looked up, and smiled. He let go of his tail, and coughed out fur. “You got a fluffy tail there, my friend.” Oakpaw frowned.
“What do you want?” Birchkit took a big leave, that had many herbs in it. He waved it back and forth. “Gonna heal you, duh!”
Oakpaw hit Birchkit in the face a couple of times. “No, they aren't bad, I can lick them,”
Oakpaw stalked over to the apprentice's den, and fell asleep on his bed. He could still hear the cats talking about the new news. Some cats yowled in disbelief, while others, nodded in approval, at Leopardshine's choice.
Oakpaw snuggled his face in his paws, and wrapped his tail around his nose. Oakpaw slowly, fell into sleep.
