like what boxy posted that explains the physical events that would happen. but i wanna know something like that but instead of water vanishing i want to know what would happen if the water vanished.
You mean the existing molecules of H2O or liquid H2O or the chemical reactions that produce H2O since H and O molecules can exist otherwise? In terms of Chemistry, it's very complicated so some specifics would narrow it down.
The existing molecules of H2O that are in the air. I want to know what physical actions would take place if that all vanished in one single moment.
Then only gaseous molecules of H2O would disappear. Water as a liquid and as ice would still exist. If you're implying that condensation would not occur (which is largely impossible due to increase in temperatures), then liquid water would not be produced and thus would not freeze to become solid ice. Evaporation would also not occur so liquid water will never turn into gaseous water-water could only switch between liquid and solid states. In a sense, part of the water cycle would be halted, and even though water would still exist, the halting of evaporation and condensation would have catastrophic effects on the ecosystem. Rain would never occur so plants wouldn't get the water they need, so they'll die, then herbivores wouldn't have food and die thus carnivores would have no food and neither will omnivores. We are omnivores and unless we come up with some alternative to natural food we'll die. But then we'd have to fix the lack of supply of oxygen plants give us and the increased CO2 levels in the atmosphere. The likelihood of our death is pretty overwhelming in this case.
I didn't imply evaporation or condensation would stop (i'm sorry if this seems stern or rude blatant its just i did not how to word it differently)
@Thank you! I was thinking something on the lines of that, that if h20 vanished then it'd cause vacuums of empty space, thus causing other gases to fill those in and winds to rapidly increase.
thank u ppl
