Duuuuude. OARFISH! These guys live super deep in the ocean, and apart from a deep sea bot capturing some murky footage, live sightings have been very scarce. These folks in Baja California got to see two (one shown). Why are deep sea fish in such shallow water? Biologists suggest some sort of distress. Either bad weather beat em up and dumped them disoriented in shallow waters (which is how most biologists theorize dead oarfish wash up) or oceanic currents are shifting and pushing them closer to the landmass.

Hey, what's that stuff? Walruses. An estimated 35,000 of them. Normally walruses stay on ice for the most part, but with plunging amounts of sea ice, more walruses are forced elsewhere.
