Haha that doesn't look like me!
Just cause the guy has specs and a beard! I'm much more handsome, and would pull off a pair of stockings better.
We Scots don't wear stockings, just kilts on occasion.

~~ Homemade advent calendars ~~
I hate flimsy cardboard rubbishy things you get from the supermarket. So here it is, how to make your own amazing one...and you can fill it with anything you like
Before we start, I don't want to be sued (or something along those lines). Please read this when you're using a craft knife:
1. Keep your craft knife in a secure place.
2. Never let anyone obtain or use a craft knife without strict observation/assistance.
3. Always use with a metal ruler that comes with an integral finger guard.
4. Ensure the blade is safely retracted after use.
It pays to be safe rather than sorry when using these potentially hazardous tools. It may seem overkill to recommend safety but accidents do happen and being fore-warned is to be fore-armed.
I can't stress it enough, they are hard to use.
You'll need:
A3 sheet of card - thick strong card, any colour you like.
Craft knife - read instructions above! If you can't use a craft knife at all, you can use a pair of scissors.
2 or 3 A3 sheets of card - in a different colour to the first. You can have it the same, but I think it looks nice with a contrasting colour.
A good glue - PVA will do I suppose, but get a strong one. Not superglue, I don't want to be blamed for injuries.
Anything that you want to decorate your calendar with - you'll decide that once you're done really though.
Oh, and things to fill your calendar with!
1. Get the 2 or 3 sheets of A3 card (the second lot) and starting as close in the corner as you can, make a square net - each square should be 3cm x 3cm.

That is actually a really good size.
Anyway...you need 25 of them, so get cracking! (save yourself by making a template of one so you don't have to constantly draw the outline all the time)
2. Mark out on the big single piece of card where you are going to put each of the 25 boxes. They should be evenly spaced out, and I think there'll be enough room.
3. Decorate the A3 card base - anything you like..try and tie it in with the colours of the card.
4. Stick your boxes on! Make sure you keep it all lying down for a few hours until it's fully dry. Do any more decorating that you need to do.
5. Pop something in each day, and you're done!

~~~Sylvies Gingerbread Men~~~
You'll need:
75 g or so of soft brown sugar, sieved
2 tablespoons golden syrup - nomnomomomomom
1 tablespoon black treacle - be careful with this - it is really sticky (obviously) and it gets EVERYWHERE.
1 level teaspoon ground cinnamon - if you aren't so keen on cinnamon, then I think you can use cinnamon syrup as it is lighter, but I haven't tried it yet - I <3 cinnamon.
1 level teaspoon ground ginger -
1 pinch ground cloves - I hate cloves. I advise you to ignore it.
finely grated rind ½ orange - use the thinnest bit of the grater! being lazy makes for yucky gingerbread men.
95 g butter - don't use any low fat rubbish, if you're watching your weight you wouldn't be making cakes in the first place, would you?
½ level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda - this is in the baking aisle, for those new to cooking!
225 g plain flour
1. Preheat your oven to 350F, gas mark...4, or 180C.
2. Pop the sugar, syrup and treacle and spices annnnnnnnnnnnd... a tablespoon of water and the orange rind into a pan. Cook it until it boils, then turn off the heat and add the butter - but cut the butter into lumps before you do that. Then add the bicarbonate of soda.
3. Mix in the flour a bit at a time, until it's a smooth, holdable dough. Put a towel over the dough, and leave it in a cool place for about 30 minutes.
4. Pop it down on a floured surface, and roll it out (with a rolling pin) to about 1/8 inch or 3mm or so thick. Get your cookie cutter and cut out your gingerbread men! To make more of them, once you've cut as much as you can, roll up the scraps of dough and roll it out again. You can cut more out then! (and with the little scraps of dough, you can cut out 6 sqaures to give your gingerbread man a 6 pack)
5. Put them on lightly greased baking trays, and bake them for 10-15 minutes. Leave them to cool on the baking tray, before putting them on a wire rack.
6. Now decorate!
