What ever happend to equality? If this absurdity ends up extending throughout the nation, I'm going to enroll in a catholic school; assuming protesting wont change anything (which, long term, it probably won't). Not only will students suffer, but teachers have been having a rough time as it is. Freezing wages and hacking away benefits is nothing short of exploitation.
Funny. I was just having a very in-depth argument with my dad today concerning whether facism exceeds democracy. Though each have a romantic quality about them, my belief in democracy just wilted a little bit today.
Thanks for sharing.
LOL!
Sorry, but you getting upset by the suposive "inequality" between this Bill with private/ religious schools and public schools is a bit ridiculous.
There's a reason why this doesn't affect religious and private schools. Simply because, THEY ARE NOT APART OF THE EDUCATION SYSTEM! They do things their own way. They are INDEPENDENT from the Education System of Canada. So, if Canada passes a law affecting schools, it only affects PUBLIC SCHOOLS since Canada only has power over public schools. Same thing in every other country.
Canada can't force Bill 115 onto religious and private schools because they don't have any connections to Canada's education system. Canada funds public schools, Canada establishes public schools and what not, while private and religious schools are started by average people, or just normal citizens.
There is no, diversity of "equality" between these types of schools. Canada simply can't force a law into something they have no control of. Same with every other country.
If Canada had forced Bill 115 on religious and private schools, it would actually be DEFINING the rights of a Democratic State, which Canada is extremely influenced by: Democracy.
Canada simply can't intact their new bill on schools they never even had any administration over.
I realize my error, considering the fact that Ontario has been hugely affected by having their flow of exports into the USA decreased. Alberta (where I live) is a "have" province, and so I came to the assumption that Ontario didn't have a good enough reason to chastise their teachers. I see now that (due to economic issues within the province) some action is dignified.
As for the equality issue, I wasn't aiming my outrage towards private schools. In Alberta, Catholic schools are indeed funded by tax payers. (If this isn't the case in Ontario, I wasn't aware.) Therfore, catholic schools
should be in stride with whatever happens with public schools. If our provincial government were to decide that they needed to take measures similar to that of Ontario's (down the road), then it's expected that catholic schools eventually be treated equally/unbiasedly. The fact that catholic schools may not be affected would be simply unspeakable.
(Where I stated, "If this absurdity ends up extending throughout the nation, I'm going to enroll in a catholic school; assuming protesting wont change anything (which, long term, it probably won't)", I can see where there may have been confusion. From what I've seen, protesting may bring some change, but usually the government finds another way to rub you wrong. So in my opinion, long-term, protesting doesn't do too much. And if Catholic schools were to be unscathed, then it's only reasonable that I attend one for a better education, as they do have the same curriculum.)
It's sometimes difficult to be forthright and not give offense. I'm sorry for any mixed-messages. I also apologize for not having read up on the education system in Ontario. If the system is much different than ours, it would make my opinion false-- therefore invalid.
Though, I don't your respect your decision to shoot down my post in such a graceless manner. I also suggest that if you are to make a bold inquiry, do not assume (as I also did), or you end up sounding like kind of a boob. As I don't mind if anyone wants to counter my opinions. However, I do mind if they disregard my views completely.
