Song Lyrics as Poems

Postby Shadowstar1922 » 23 Jul 2014, 00:58

I like to look at songs as a Poem when focusing on their lyrics because it's much easier to dissect it and figure out the symbolism and meaning and such. Though I like catchy electronic and pop songs, I truly fall in love with songs with amazing lyrics. So, I'm gonna be posting them here. :P

And, feel free to share!

First one to come...

Lana Del Rey - Dark Paradise

All my friends tell me I should move on,
I'm lying in the ocean, singing your song,
Ahh, that's how you sang it.

Loving you forever, can't be wrong,
Even though you're not here, won't move on.
Ahh, that's how we played.

And there's no remedy,
For memory,
Your face is like a melody,
It won't leave my head.

Your soul is haunting me,
And telling me,
That everything is fine,
When I wish I was dead.

Every time I close my eyes,
It's like a Dark Paradise.
No one compares to you,
I'm scared that you,
Won't be waiting on the other side.

There's no relief,
I see you in my sleep,
and everyone is rushing me,
But I can feel you touching me.

There's no release,
I feel you in my dreams,
Telling me I'm fine.

Tove Lo - Habits

I eat my dinner in my bathtub,
Then I go to sex clubs,
Watching freaky people,
Getting it on.

It doesn't make me nervous,
If anything I'm restless,
Yeah I've been around,
And I've seen it all.

I get home I got the munchies,
binge on all my Twinkies,
Throw up in the tub,
Then I go to sleep.

And I drank up all my money,
Days get kind of lonely.

You're gone and I gotta stay High,
to keep you off my mind.

Pick up daddies at the playground,
How I spend my daytime,
Loosen up the frown,
Make 'em feel alive.

I'll make it fast and greasy,
I'm on my way too easy,

You're gone and I gotta stay High,
all the time, to keep you off my mind.
High, all the time,
to keep you off my mind.

Spending my days,
locked in a haze,
Tryin' to forget you babe,
I fall back down,

Gotta stay High,
all my life,
to forget I'm missing you.

Staying in my play pretend,
Where the fun ain't got no end,
Can't go home alone again,
need someone to numb the pain.

Squalloscope - Dust

Bring me a new excuse
to lay a trail in your streets.
Bring me a soft invasion,
I'll provide the sea and the ships.

And in the morning bring me the dust.
In the morning bring me the dust.

Bring me my seven league boots
and our balance so we won't stumble.
Bring me your five fingers,
they say there's luck in odd numbers.

And in the morning bring me the dust.
In the morning bring me the dust.

Bring me my packed suitcase
and all our favorite words.
Bring me my library,
our books of fishes and birds.

In the morning bring me the dust.
In the morning bring me the dust.
that was dramatic. still ready 2 die tho!

SAINT PEPSI - Fiona Coyne

First on the Silver Screen,
She's always playing make-believe.
And she's got emerald eyes,
That let me know just what she needs.

It's hard to show,
Exactly what she means to me.
But I'll give the world,
A girl like that don't come for free.

Oh darling,
won't you believe me?
I'll love you till the record stops,
No record stops.

First on the silver screen,
The brightest star I've ever seen.
She takes me to a better place.
She dances like I can't believe.

And it's hard to show,
That every day feels like a dream.
I'll give my world,
To keep that girl right next to me.

Now Darling,
won't you believe me?
I'll love you till the record stops,
No record stops.

Lady GaGa - Princess Die

Leave the coffin open when I go.
Leave my pearls and lipstick on,
so everybody knows.

Pretty will be the photograph I leave.
Laying down on famous knives,
so everybody sees.

Bleach out all the dark,
I'll swallow each peroxide shot,
Someone I know could love,
and save me from myself.

Or maybe I'll just clean
the shit off of these fancy shoes.
I'll be a Princess Die,
And die you You.

I'm hungry from an anorexic heart.
I've been trying to tell you how I feel,
But was never very smart.

I'm wrapped in silks made for Egyptian Queens.
I'll do it in the swimming pool,
so every body sees.

I wish that I was strong,
I wish that I was wrong.
I wish that I could cope,
But I took pills and left a note.

And I wish that I could go,
In my rich boyfriend's limo.
Right after he proposed,
with a 16-carat stone,
All wrapped in rose gold.

With the paprazzi all swarming 'round,
In my Louis Vuitton white button down,
Oh, it's not, that deep.

So bob your head,
for another dead blonde,
who's real prince,
is in Heaven.

She just wants to sleep.

The final act of life,
will be in my own hands to do.
I'll be a Princess Die,
and die with You.

Applaud. Pour Vous.

Happy Little Pill Lyrics, Troye Sivan

In the crowd, alone
And every second passing, reminds me I’m not home
Bright lights and city sounds are ringing like a drone,
Unknown, Unknown

Oh glazed eyes, empty hearts
Buying happy from shopping carts
Nothing but time to kill, sipping life from bottles
Tight skin, bodyguards, Gucci down the boulevard,
Cocaine dollars bills and,

My happy little pill
Take me away
Dry my eyes
Bring colour to my skies
My sweet little pill
Take my hunger
Light within
Numb my skin

Like a rock, I float
Sweat and conversations, seep into my bones
Fours walls are not enough, I’ll take a dip into the unknown,
Unknown

Oh glazed eyes, empty hearts
Buying happy from shopping carts
Nothing but time to kill, sipping life from bottles
Tight skin, bodyguards, Gucci down the boulevard,
Cocaine dollars bills and,

My happy little pill
Take me away
Dry my eyes
Bring colour to my skies
My sweet little pill
Take my hunger
Light within
Numb my skin

Glazed eyes, empty hearts
Buying happy from shopping carts
Nothing but time to kill, sipping life from bottles
Tight skin, bodyguards, Gucci down the boulevard,

The Neighbourhood - West Coast

Me, I'm from a different type of left land, old wild west land
Nosebleeds, palm trees, and tumbleweeds rustling
Outside, they say it's happy here, but it's depressing
Too many pretty faces catching my attention
So I look at them, remind myself in the smudged glass,
"That pretty isn't everything, you punk ass"
Always hard to see past the surface, when it looks so perfect
But her eyes will disguise dirt on purpose, you listening?
I grew up here, under the sun, grade school, I was the odd one, out of the bunch
And I don't mean I was the kid who ate bugs for lunch,
I was the one who wasn't coming from where they're coming from
I speak poetically, and never pride my ignorance, but this California shit is rigorous
They say it's happy here, happiness is figurative,
I'm happy 'cause of me, doesn't matter where I'm living

If the sun was God, I'd be covered in faith,
If the ocean was the devil, I'd be covered in hate
I'm so west coast, it's a goddamn shame
I'm so west coast, it's a goddamn shame

I'm waking up underneath sheets, naked still sweating
Slept in late so everybody else is ready
My friend called up, he said,
"Hurry up buddy, it's almost sundown already"
So I hopped up, I went and washed up,
I ate some pasta, then I gave my mom hugs
And then I thought, "Uh, it's gonna be a pretty nice night"
But pretty isn't everything, right?
Golden state mind, I'm taking my time
Plain white shirt, and a skinny black tie
My top let down when I get picked up
P C H so California
Maybe they were right; happiness is a warm gun
But before you shoot, please warn us
Life is too fun, California will you marry me?
Let God be the sun and in the ocean they shall bury me

If the sun was God, I'd be covered in faith,
If the ocean was the devil, I'd be covered in hate
I'm so west coast, it's a goddamn shame
I'm so west coast, it's a goddamn shame
that was dramatic. still ready 2 die tho!
