It includes usually Australia. Suprisingly, I think there are a lot of opinions about what else it includes. It seems people's options of what it includes can be as narrow as Polynesia, Micronesia, and Melanesia, or as broad as the region between Asia and the Western World, including the Malay Archipelago, New Zealand, New Guinea, some of the closer Pacific Islands, and, of course, Australia.

Oceania is a geopolitical term encompassing Australia, New Zealand, Papau New Guinea, and all of the Polynesian island nations.
