General Support Thread

Postby Foopzheart » 04 Mar 2017, 22:23

As long as I've been on this website, I've seen many users struggling with a variety of serious issues without getting the help they deserve. Sometimes it's a fear of what might come of it, sometimes it's a hopelessness that tends to take anyone over if they're not careful, sometimes it's somebody who needs and wants help but isn't finding it where they are at the moment--there are plenty of reasons somebody may be struggling, but the point is that nobody deserves to be.

The purpose of this thread is to offer support to any (and I mean ANY) user on this site that may need it. Any kind of support, any sort of issue, big or small. Every issue carries importance to somebody, and every "somebody" out there dealing with these issues should have access to help.

You can post here on this thread if you want to--anybody can come forward and try to help with issues you post here, as I'm sure plenty will be ready and willing to help. If you feel your issue is too serious or too deep or really anything you'd like to keep private then please, I encourage you to message somebody who is ready to help (there will be a list that may or may not grow in the future). It is entirely ensured that everything you send will be kept entirely confidential and treated in a judgment-free way. The more likely we are to ensure your safety, the better, so please keep in mind that nobody here is a trained professional in any sort of counseling and if your issue is one that could bring harm (physical or mental) to you or those close to you, it is highly encouraged that you make use of a hotline (some will be listed in the next post) in order to get in contact with somebody professionally trained as soon as possible to keep you as safe as possible. I'm also going to make an effort to find a way for people to anonymously talk about their issues with one of the volunteers if they are still worried about their identity being known.

List of Private Supporters:
Foop
D@nny
J3rdegree

You can come to either of us for support via PM and everything you say will be kept confidential. Otherwise, you are free to post here about any issue you may be having and others may offer support. This thread is ONLY for support. If yall start arguing, the posts will be deleted without mention. If you would like to volunteer yourself for private discussion, please pm me before posting on the thread. There are certain things I'd like to run past any volunteers before they put themselves out there, for safety reasons.

Stay safe, folks. Get helping. <3

HELP RESOURCES:

Sexual Assault: 1-800-656-4673
Runaway: 1-800-843-5200 (California)
1-800-621-4000 (If you are in a dangerous situation at home, ran away and want to return home, or ran away and want to find a safe place to go.)

Adolescent Suicide Helpline: 1-800-621-4000
Postpartum Depression: 1-800-PPD-MOMS
Nami Helpline (Mental illness helpline): 1-800-950-6264

211 is a US service that offers help with a whole host of serious issues from abusive situations to even helping you get a job, if you're struggling with that. Seriously, I skimmed through this site and the amount of resources they offer to get people back on their feet is downright impressive. This is not a suicide hotline.

IMAlive looks like it's an international service that allows you to immediately chat with a trained volunteer. I'm not entirely sure if it's international but it definitely has volunteers in the US and Canada.

UK

Helpline 2: 1-866-661-3311 (Toll free-Howe Sound/Sunshine Coast)
Helpline 3: 1-866-872-0113 (TTY)

Kids Help Phone: 1-800-668-6868 (All of Canada, age <20)
Mental Help Health Line: 1-866-531-2600 (Ontario)

This is all that I could collect atm that I could find additional information on (like a website to go along with it, or any real sort of indication that these hotlines are reliable). Of course, living in the US, I'll not have the same access or ability to find hotlines in other countries, but if you know any sort of helplines or help chats that you think are useful, feel free to say so and I'll add them to this list.
