The biggest Call of Duty Map Pack ever!

MW3 Content Collection #1 Available March 20th

We already knew that MW3 DLC would be available for purchase for non-Elite subscribers in March. However, we didn’t know exactly when in March that would be or what exactly it would entail beyond the Piazza and Liberation maps.

Now, we know, and the news is pretty good.

The MW3 Content Collection #1 will be available for purchase on XBox Live on March 20th (and sometime in April on PSN/SEN, as well as the PC). The content collection pack will include the following:

Piazza multiplayer map
Liberation multiplayer map
Overwatch multiplayer map
Black Box multiplayer map
Black Ice spec ops mission
Negotiator spec ops mission

There were concerns that the first paid DLC pack would only contain Piazza/Liberation and maybe Overwatch. Including not only all of those, but the March Elite DLC as well is a nice surprise. This will catch up non-elite subscribers, at least for a little while, as they’ll now have all the DLC that elite subscribers do.

The price of the pack has not been announced yet, but 1200ms points seems to be the going rate for Call of Duty DLC. This is a little more content than they usually contain so it will be interesting to see if the price goes up with it.

Ask and you shall receive! Sometimes...

Call of Duty Elite Playlists Consolidated to New Maps Only

If you’re playing on the 360, you may have noticed an update to Call of Duty Elite a few days ago. That update has changed the Call of Duty Elite exclusive playlists to use new DLC maps only.

The update was put out in a hurry as a result of community feedback, so you guys asked and you shall receive.

We think the change is for the better. The exclusive playlists are there mainly to play the new maps so it’s always a bummer when the mood for some Overwatch or Piazza strikes and you get stuck on an original map for 5 games in a row.

Excited or not?

Black Ops 2 is Totally For Real

Rumors have been swirling that Black Ops 2 is the next game in the Call of Duty franchise. First, Activision purchased blackops2.com. Then an employee mentioned that Black Ops 2 would include zombies. Up next, Activision confirmed that there would be a new Call of Duty in 2012. Finally, there was the whole ordeal with Black Ops 2 being listed on the French version of Amazon and Activision trying to strong-arm news sites into taking down the news story about it.

Another week, another shred of evidence that Black Ops 2 is real and is coming this year. Large Spanish/Portuguese games website FNAC has listed Black Ops 2 for preorder with a release date of November 2012. The ad is actually still up, and has been all day. At this point the evidence is just too much to ignore. This is extremely reminiscent of the hubbub leading up to the MW3 announcement. A bunch of leaks and slips followed by denials prior to an eventual announcement. We fully expect Black Ops 2 to be officially announced before this year’s E3 event, where it will likely debut.

So what say you, Gamestas. Is Black Ops 2 a good route for them to go with the next Call of Duty? Would you rather Treyarch re-visit the well acclaimed Black Ops or start over with another time period? Sound off in the comments below.

Gamers Threaten MW3 Blackout on April 20th

Fed up with some of the outstanding issues still plaguing Modern Warfare 3, some gamers have started a movement to boycott the game on April 20th (at least they picked a day where they’d be…”busy”….doing something else).

If this sounds somewhat familiar it is because Battlefield 3 gamers threatened the same thing a few weeks ago. Their demands were small, however, and they were met prior to the blackout date.

With Modern Warfare 3, the demands are a bit larger, including some fixes for major things like lag, some new features, and quite a few weapon/perk balancing issues. We’re not really seeing how the blackout would hurt Activision that much as they already have the money that the players spent to buy the game (and their lead in gamers actually playing the game is probably large enough that it would stand even with everyone taking a day off), though I suppose it’s more about the message.

The full list of demands is below, as is a video advertising the blackout date. What do you think, will gamers actually follow through with the blackout (as gamers we’re all notorious for threatening boycotts and not following through), and if they do will it actually help? Sound off in the comments.

Lag Compensation
Matchmaking options which include the ability to enable disable local search and base search off the party leader when playing with friends
The broken Spawn System
Full featured Theater mode
Individual volume controls in the options menu
Tac insert removed from Kill confirmed
More Hardcore game modes
Better Elite playlist options
Objective stats on in-game scoreboard
Akimbo machine pistol nerf
Removal of any assault kill streaks from the support package
Removal of death streaks and Fix Local Area Network settings for Competitive events

Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) gamers feel that their request for fixes and bug issues were never answered and despite many chances given to Activision and Infinity Ward, it seems as if their pleas were ignored repeatedly. Members of the Modern Warfare Community feel that a blackout is the only way to get both companies to sit up and pay attention to their grievances. The movement which started small seemed to amass a large amount of followers who have all agreed to darken the MW3 servers on the 20th of April 2012, by simply not showing up at all on that day. According to MW3 Blackout organizers, Modern Warfare 3 is an incomplete game and developers are making no efforts to fix the issues and bugs.

Prestige Levels 16-20 Coming to MW3

PC gamers got an unexpected surprise alongside the recent Content Collection 1 PC release. Along with the new maps, the update also unlocked prestige levels 16-20 on the PC version of Modern Warfare 3. The new levels are expected to come to consoles soon as well.

If you’ll recall, this happened once before back in February. The PC version of MW3 unexpectedly had prestige levels 11-15 added to it, alongside some additional code that hinted that levels 16-20 would eventually be coming. Last time, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game were updated with levels 11-15 about two weeks after the PC version, which means it’s likely that the PS3 and 360 will see prestige levels 16-20 sometime around the end of May.

Are you excited about the new levels or are you not looking forward to more grinding?

Infinity Ward Replaces Robert Bowling

When Robert Bowling, aka @fourzerotwo, left Infinity Ward back in March of this year, it left a big hole in the Call of Duty franchise. People had long associated Bowling as the face of the Call of Duty franchise, and he was one of the few people in game development that regularly interacted with gamers and answered their questions about the games.

Bowling’s position as senior community manager has sat empty since he left, but it has finally been filled. Former IGN employee Tina Palacios has taken the position. It will be interesting to see how Tina handles the constant onslaught of angry gamers that Bowling was able to shun off, and also will be interesting to see how different things are with a cute gamer girl being the liason to the community. Tina already seems to be taking things in stride, recently tweeting that she would like to thank the internet for reminding her of her gender and asking her about the kitchen and sandwiches. Well played, Tina.

How do you think she’ll do as Bowling’s replacement? Let us know in the comments!

MW3 Content Collection 2 Detailed

Infinity Ward is about to give gamers that aren’t subscribed to Call of Duty Elite a chance to catch up on MW3 DLC. For those that don’t know, every month new content is released for MW3. However, that monthly content is only available for immediate download by Call of Duty Elite subscribers. Every few months Infinity Ward then packages the last few months worth of content together and sells it as a Content Collection for $15 to non-subscribers.

Face-Off Maps

-Getaway
-Lookout

Multiplayer Maps

-Foundation
-Sanctuary
-Oasis

Spec Ops Missions
