XBOX 360 AND PS3 ELITE PREMIUM CONTENT DROPS FOR JULY ANNOUNCED

Modern Warfare 3 is in for one of the most content-rich months yet, as July sees the release of some exciting ELITE drops.

Xbox 360 ELITE Premium members will receive four exclusive drops on Tuesday, July 17, including three Multiplayer maps and a Special Ops mission. Navigate a graveyard of rotting ocean liners in Decommission. Take the fight out on the ocean in Offshore, an oil rig rich with sniper perches. On Special Ops mission Vertigo, dispatch helicopters and enemies alike from a rooftop vantage point on the Oasis hotel.

After weeks of anticipation, Terminal arrives to MW3! A fan-favorite from Modern Warfare 2, this Russian airport map is sure to be a hit with old and new fans alike. For ELITE Premium Members on Xbox 360, Terminal is available to download next Tuesday, July 17. Non-ELITE Premium members on the Xbox 360 won't need to wait long for their classic map, Terminal releases free to all Xbox 360 players only a day later on Wednesday, July 18.

PS3 ELITE Premium members will also see four content pieces this month, with three Face Off maps and a Special Ops mission releasing on Thursday, July 19. Drop into a tornado-devastated farm in Vortex. Weave across a war-torn Middle Eastern highway in U-Turn. And fight across some New York City streets in Intersection. In the Special Ops mission Arctic Recon, go by air, land, and sea to destroy a Russian warship.
MW3 fans are about to see a lot of action in the weeks ahead!

Upcoming Modern Warfare 3 fixes include Lag Compensation, Spawning and Weapon Balance

Following last week’s MW3 ELITE DLC drops for Xbox 360 and PS3 as well as the releases of Terminal for all on Xbox 360, Mark Rubin, executive producer at Infinity Ward has posted a list of upcoming updates for Modern Warfare 3. Some of the updates will include “fixes” for some of the problems which have been present since day one, like lag compensation, spawning and weapons balance, which should consist of upgrading “under-performing” weapons.

Please find below the complete list and make sure to visit our Black Ops 2 and Modern Warfare 3 news section for all the latest Call of Duty news.

Lag Comp (Xbox & PS3) – TDM has some settings that replicate to an extent MW2 lag comp settings. More to be done here. Moving to all playlists soon. Probably sometime next week barring any issues. PC is still being worked on as well but is a different code path.

Matchmaking (Xbox) – Domination has a new matchmaking schema. It no longer uses Hilbert regions but rather country code based on your IP. Improvements to that coming in upcoming patch. But if you have been matchmaking a lot with people from other countries please try this out and see if it is better.

Spawning (All) – Faceoff maps have had more spawn points added and a slight tweak to the logic. Should reduce the amount of spawn trapping. But the maps are small so spawning will always feel dangerous. Part of the fun of the mode. A full re-write on spawn logic is in the works but will be some time before it is ready.

DLC - Terminal is out for everyone on Xbox. I'll be able to announce the date for Ps3 and PC sometime soon pending PR approval. Probably next week or so. Yes Terminal will be free for everyone just as it is on Xbox.

PS3 DLC Issues – Some of the issues with PS3 DLC have been resolved. There are still isolated cases of people losing their Elite Subscription and also of some DLC content that seems to be either unplayable or un-downloadable. We are still working with Sony on those issues.

Weapon Balance – We have started our pass on weapons here at the studio and are testing out some changes. We are just hitting ARs and SMGs at first. Our current philosophy on this right now is not to nerf but rather to buff those weapons that are under-performing. Not sure yet on the eta of when these changes will go live.

Playlist Updates - I don't have any info yet on Playlist updates just yet. Hoping to get to that soon.

Modern Warfare 3: Underrated Perks

Within every first person shooter, there are numerous things that are overlooked by the community. This is no different when it comes to playing multiplayer on Modern Warfare 3. Something that has been bothering me is that there are all of these great perks out there, but there are very few people that tend to even use them. What I’m going to do now is breakdown three perks (one from each perk category) that I feel should be used more often.

PERK 1 – RECON

I know it’s hard to imagine playing MW3 without sleight of hand or scavenger but just hear me out. If you’re looking to be a team player and actually get a long winning streak then recon is your perk. It’s basically like a very short version of a blackbird from Black Ops, except that people only show up on the mini-map if you cause explosive damage to them (example: stun or flash grenades). I actually didn’t even try this perk until one of my friends started using it while we were playing team deathmatch. He started painting enemies on the mini-map left and right which allowed me to continuously murder them. Obviously it is very easy to kill a person when you know where they are on the map AND which way they are looking. If you have a full team of recon abusers, you will have a clear advantage over your opponents.

PERK 2 – BLAST SHIELD

Although I feel like assassin is on a different level than the other perks, blast shield is still a good alternative if you’re looking to switch things up. For this perk I’m strictly relating it to objective-based game types (domination, demolition, etc.). I wouldn’t suggest using this in team deathmatch as you won’t be trying to dominate flags or defuse bombs. On the other hand, using this in demolition is one of the smartest things you can do. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how many explosions you survive, especially when you’re trying to be clutch and defuse a last second bomb. Blast shield could easily be the difference between you dying and losing the round, or surviving and getting your team the victory.

PERK 3 – MARKSMAN

Marksman is probably the most underrated and one of the best perks available. When I use this perk, my enemies can’t even get near me since I see their names pop up from across the map. I normally pair marksman with my ACR, turning me into an unstoppable force. The key to using marksman is pairing it with a gun that you can use across the map. Most people obviously pick this perk for sniping but using it with an assault rifle is such a great combination as well. Since certain assault rifles are extremely accurate (scar, acr, mk14, etc.), you can not only identify enemies from a great distance but you can actually kill them as well. After realizing how amazing marksman is, I told some of my friends to give it a chance too; every single one of the people I told now use it on a regular basis.

All of these perks actually don’t look like they would be great just based off of words (like the descriptions in MW3), but when you actually give them a chance, they can be game changers. I’m not saying that you should use all three perks at once, but you should definitely add one of them to your already existing classes and see how great they actually can be.

I have Marksmen and Recon Equiped to some of my classes because of my cousin(much better then me at MW3) So ill try these out and Blast Shield Is Like The Flak Jacket of the game,On Black ops i use it over Ghost which is the Assassin of the Game..Blast Shield i use in specialist so when im on a rampage...Helps me secure My M.O.A.B....by a 25% Increase...*was extremely close when i was using a sniper until i got shot from an acr xD*
I've lost my pieces.

Modern Warfare 3 Receives Weapon Rebalance

An update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was recently released and it all has to do with rebalancing different weapons. As of now, these updates have only been released for Xbox 360 and PS3, but will be coming to the PC in the next patch.

PM9 – Some of the kick was reduced. Now I really don’t think this will change anything too much since very few people use it, but I might give it a second chance. Who knows, maybe taking away a lot of the kick will be a difference maker.

MP5 – Increased fire rate. This is another gun that I will have to try again because I simply love using guns with high fire rate. Hopefully increasing the fire rate doesn’t make the kick unbearably insane though.

UMP45 – Increased damage. I already know a good amount of people that use this gun, so adding more damage will clearly make it one of the most popular guns.

M16A4 – Increased damage and fire rate. If you read one of my other articles, I talked about underrated guns in Modern Warfare 3. Although I didn’t talk about the M16A4, it was one of the guns that a lot of people thought should be used more. Now that it deals more damage AND shoots faster, it can easily become one of the best guns in the game.

AK47 – Reduced kick. The AK47 is one of the guns that I actually thought was underrated. I feel like many people never used this gun because they were afraid of the kick that came along with it. Expect to see this gun way more often now that the kick is reduced. I am now slightly concerned that the AK47 will become the most overpowered weapon in the game.

FAD – Increased damage and range. The FAD was the second gun that I thought was completely underrated. There is not a doubt in my mind that this will now be one of the most overused weapons in Modern Warfare 3. The two reasons why people didn’t use this gun was because it didn’t do enough damage, and it didn’t have great range. Well, now the FAD deals more damage AND has better range. If there is one gun on this list you should start using immediately, it’s this one.
