How To Make a Minecraft Server

Postby ghost 9 » 09 Mar 2013, 00:13

What you will need

A brain Download here (https://www.google.com/)
[Optional] Hamachi Here (http://hamachi.en.softonic.com/download)
CraftBukkit Here (http://bukkit.org/)
Minecraft server Here (http://205.196.122.196/54izzai83djg/64y ... Server.exe)
Port Checker Here (http://canyouseeme.org/)

Port Forward First!

For this i am going to use my linksys router as an example

go to CMD and type ipconfig and find your Default Gateway and IPv4 address.
Now pull up a web browser and type that IP in, when you hit enter it should ask you for your user and pass. If you don't know what it is Google the default log in for your router or type your custom user/pass in.
once logged in find an area where your able to enter port forwarding detail, most are in sections labeled port forwarding or something related to that. (You might need to Google this since there are so many type of routers.)
now when it asks you if you want to use TCP or UDP make sure you select both or all depending on your router.
Now enter your IPv4 address (if you already have something port forwarded to it its ok, you can do multiples.
Now for external Port and Internal Port enter 25565.
For some you need to check enabled. Now save this.
Now we need to add your ports to the firewall, so search firewall in run, WindowsFirewall>advanced settings>inbound rules>new rule.
Now we add the port, click port then TCP then put in your port number.
Now it will auto select the rest, just keep hitting next until its added.
Now do that step again except this time selecting. UDP
then check it at this port check website (http://www.canyouseeme.org/) and enter your port in the port area.
Now if it tells you success then your have successfully opened the port, if not then try reading the instructions again, check your spelling, google.

Now to Setup the server

Make a folder that you want the server to be (ex:MCserver)
Put the MineCraftServer.exe and Craftbukkit in it. (DONT RUN ANYTHING)
Now rename the craftbukkit.jar to craftbukkit.jar (it will most likely be called something like craftbukkit1.7blahblahblah)
Now run minecraftserver.exe(if you want you can rename this)
After it tell you its done exit out of it.
Now double click on CraftBukkit.jar. (you will notice more files just got added)
Now run MineCraftserver.exe and you have your server up!
Now to connect go into Minecraft and hit add server and enter the IPv4 address you used for port forwarding, and your friends can join as well!

Cant Port Forward? Hamachi

install it. -_-
Now pull it up and hit the power button. (online)
Name yourself what ever you want.
Hit create a network (this is so people can join your server) But if your join someones server hit Join network.
Make a network id and password.(this is basically your username and pass when people join your network, they will need it.)
Then instead of logging into your server with your IPv4 you log in with the IP they gave you.

Custom Ip

this is so instead of a number IP we will be using a custom one
Go to Here (http://www.dot.tk/)
Now put in the custom name you want!
click go, now select USE DNS and then put in your server IP.
select the longest time period.
Now sign up and you have a custom name!
It might not be instant, it might take a while for it to actually work.

How to add PLugins

Go Here (http://plugins.bukkit.org/)
select what ever you want, although for a good server i would use (http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/essentials) And i would also get groupmanager
Now go to your plugins folder thats in your server fold and simply take that pluginname.jar into your plugins folder and restart your server.
