Its been a common thing for me to have at least one person by my side, whether it was someone close, or simply a passing acquaintance, because I don't like being alone. Even if its in my own apartment I have my cat to keep me company when my Fiancee is out, and if the cat is sleeping or hiding I turn on the tv and the radio because it gets too quiet for me to really be at peace. It never hit me that my brothers felt the same way and made me wonder if our generally gregarious personalities both helped us to become people savvy, and at the same time crippled us in a way that meant we couldn't handle solitude. Shopping trips are preferred if someone tags along, even if that person is only in it for the waiting line treat (Im not the only one who buys candy because the line is long guys), and even studying is achieved when its a group setting. I dont mean crippled as in we have a debilitating fear, I simply mean that if we were cleaning alone we would only have cleaned the living room in an hour while having someone who was just sitting on the couch chatting would mean that it would be done in 20 minutes max.
any thoughts?

Fear of solitude

President Garfield for President!
He has your best interests in mind, and he's a cat!
Re: Fear of solitude
Ok this is really strange. I like being home alone a lot but I tend to have to be doing something or I get really bored and then my mind runs wild and I freak myself out...
I'm one of those people who hates going shopping when the stores are busy because I hate crowds, yet if I'm at a party with a bunch of friends (which hasn't happened since High School...) then its totally fine.
And then there are times where I just want to be completely alone and not talk to anyone or see anyone...

"Halo, and goodbye!"
Re: Fear of solitude
Hate crowds, and spend most of my time studying by myself.
Of course its fun being with friends and all but quiet and solitude is always welcomed by me.
