Parent's Life Stories

Postby Wow_Give_Up_On_Life » 24 May 2011, 04:07

I've noticed the Seriousness, of the Serious discussion board has been lacking of late. I wait here for the delectable........ Whim, Topic, Sentence, Thread! Yet too no avail my toungue has been left dry!

So this has been bugging me alot lately, I've noticed my parents have been more fatiqued and are getting older. It is starting to become obvious. Just a quick background on my Dad the Walrus and my Mom the Bear.

My dad was born an immigrant's child, His father was a Greek soldier who fought for Germany, His mother a poor farmer immigrant. When he was born in Canada, my Grandparent's were unable to speak English, were generally dirt poor and were jobless. Soon my Grandpa retook a simaliar vein of work, ( Ship Captain.) While my Grandma was a worker at the hotel.

So my dad grew up through Highschool, Sad, Mad and Different. He was the only kid in his class to go to Greek Lesson's on Tuesday's and he was the only kid who wore a uniform and did his hair. He was bullied harshly for that.

When your thinking of your semi decent live's my Grandparents were probably living in the shadows. But for having my Dad, and surviving horror's beyond the realm of sanity, they are blessed like no soul. This doesn't however make them Saint's.
They made mistake's, I know looking through Old Age though that you can't move forward while your looking back.

Then here we arrive at the Second Part of this posting, My mothers side. My mom was born a child in a world that didn't want to work for her. She grew up wanting to be the first woman to do many things. She was born into a religous family, who went to Church everyday, who were striken poor.

My mom had a serious affliction of Asthma, which back then. Was a pretty serious thing. No such thing as a puffer or anything, whenever she had an Asthma attack, she was put into quarintine at the hospital. She never did get to play sports, and the ones she did participate in, ( Baseball as BackCatcher) made her sad and depressed. However I still go to sleep praying that my mom having 3 lovely kids makes her happy, I still can't count how much she has given me. Happyness is a unit of measurement that'll never be successful.

My Grandma, was born inside of Canada, Which is a very rare occurence. Her parents were immigrant's who grabbed a Land Entitlement, ( Which meant they were given Land, If they could clear the whole area within two years)

So my Grandma lived most of her life on the outskirts of Alberta, In a forest by the Rockies. Supposedly she was very very bored, In her dream's she saw a world of Adventure, She was determined to get there. However fate had other plans,
" The specifics of what happened I can't remember" However I do know that she bought a Motorcycle with the savings she had accumalated over her life and went deeper into Alberta. I also know she met my Grandpa and had kids when she was eighteen.

She preceeded to enjoy her life with her loving husband, ( In Poverty) With a grand total of seven normal children and eight adapted ones. The house they lived in was a World One hospital grounds in Wainwright, Alberta. ( This was home to a Canadian Army Training Grounds, It still is there)
