I'm sure the mothers and fathers and guardians of the kids who died in Sandy Hook would also want their children back, but they can't because they were gunned down by a man who was able to get guns because of a lack of efficient gun policy.

I'm sure the parents ofDeah Shaddy Barakat, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, and Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha would like their children back. Children who graduated high school and were accepted into great universities. Two of them married happily and all three had their whole lives ahead of them. Too bad they can't have their children, nor can these fallen people have their lives back because of lack of efficient gun policy.

i can honestly go on but that post is disgusting and inaccurate. You think someone who gets a weapon designed to murder people taken away from them is getting their rights violated and entire culture smudged with other people have lost their child, lover, grand parent, parent, friends, etc bc of gun advocators clearly ignoring the plague in America's gun culture so they can show their friends how cool they are with their guns.

Under Obama's advocated gun policy, it would let people who deserve an earn the right to own guns, have guns. You want a gun? Take lessons, courses, be taught how to correctly use it and not to see it as a tool to show off how cool you are in some pseudo vigilante act.

That meme is horrendous. It disregards the lives people have lost entirely and paints it as the people getting their entire assets confiscated when that's not the case.

they were gunned down by a man who stole weapons from his mother. The guns used in the sandy hook incident were licensed to his mother. This was a case of the inability to keep the guns away from her son. Not a lack of efficient gun policy.

nobody is arguing again'st gun policy here. Some of us are arguing to take all guns away from people, or to continue allowing people to have guns.

Saw this not sure how accurate it is, but I liked it.

What I gleam from that diagram is that either it is everyone and their grannies should have a gun, or bugger all people should have guns. And I think I agree with the latter and definitely not the former.

There are mental background checks before you purchase a gun.
Also, it's the second amendment of the United States Constitution. Right to bear arms.
Yes, it's outdated since the founding fathers probably didn't think America would become this big and guns would become this evolved, but it's still a right for every citizen to have a weapon to defend themselves if need be.
Gun control laws should be more strict, I'm not denying that, but taking away guns is not going to solve a thing. There's the black market, which can easily sell someone a gun.

I think that the founding fathers did know that guns would eventually become this evolved.
The only thing I don't think they accounted for is the possibility of weaponry surpassing that of guns.

We need to remember that the right to bear arms isn't to simply defend themselves in terms of self defense. It was created to also allow the citizens of the United States to rise up against a tyrannical government if one were to rise again. As it is even more difficult to fight against a government, that has a well trained army, with sticks and stones.

Do you really want to fight the US government with guns? They have drones now.
