West Intervention in Syria?
Re: West Intervention in Syria?
revisiting this... any intervention in the middle east by the west has always ended in disaster... though that said, I think whatever is happening now, with out without west help is a complete disaster. No easy way to fix anything due to the religious, tribal, other differences of people within any middle eastern country.

What we can do is have Western powers keep an eye on and try to not pick both sides and just help the two sides come together and work some deal out.
Don't pick a side, create a new peaceful side.

What if, we just sent 100,000 peacekeeper force to go sit around in Syria for three weeks? It'd be great training, a symbol of international co-operation and could easily be half the budget of the Syria Relief Fund which would be a responsible way of spending all that money.

We don't know who's side to take, thats why.
We can't take Al Quada's side because they'll set up a wanna be Iranian like Theocratic Republic with fake elections and oppress literally every different religious culture and ethnic group in Syria.
We can't take Bushar Al-Asad's side because he still oppresses his people with his own secret police force. But, he has established a secular and religious respecting policy, which in my opinion is good.
I believe we should work with Asad because I don't want another country run by Al Quada. I think during and after this war, we help Asad move closer to a democratic country and slowly strip down his powers and giving it to the people or an elected position, and give power to the Syrian People's Council, Syria's Congress. Reward Syria with economic global opportunity and stability by each goal they meet with new resources and trading partners to conduct economic activities. Use Conservative economics to expand their corporations at an easy and un-greedy way and upon the great economy and civil rights, use Socialism to give the people good living qualities and education and more civil rights, and expand their economy even greater.
Yes, this way will take decades, but it saves much more lives than picking a side and fighting it out. 200,000 people have already died, we don't need more people to die.

the whole thing is a huge mess. The country will be ruined no matter what happens. I feel sorry for the citizens stuck in the middle of this stupidity.

There has been enough violence and unrest there to last decades. Someone needs to do something...
