Bombing at the Boston Marathon

Postby Dr Frook » 16 Apr 2013, 00:52

very scary, very sad, should never happen:

Two people have been killed and around 100 injured after two explosions ripped through the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

The near-simultaneous blasts occurred at 2:50pm local time, as runners finished the marathon, around three hours after the winners had crossed the line.

TV footage showed streets littered with blood and injured people after runners were cut down by flying debris. Dozens of casualties were taken from the scene on stretchers and in wheelchairs.

Police are hunting for more explosive devices and the Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick says more than 100 people have been injured.

US president Barack Obama has vowed to bring those responsible for the blasts to justice and the White House says it is treating the explosions as a terrorist attack.

One of the people that died was a 8-year old boy.

Looked like a pretty crude explosion to me. Possibly homemade explosive. Grim images from the BBC; blood-lined streets and just a smear of blood where the bomb went off.

Apparently one also exploded outside the JFK Library, but most news focuses on the Marathon ones, so I don't know much about it.

How unhappy would you be if you were just about to finish the marathon, like meters away and then BOOM!!!!! you get knocked over, you break your leg and you never finish. I would be chizzzed off
People have the right to be stupid. Some people abuse that privilege.

oh crap, that is so scary. *hugs oooffeee*

yeah I can imagine how horrible it could be, to first feel the elation of completing the race and the next second to be blown up. Truly a cruel way to hurt people.
