I hope this does not turn into a civil war. Not good for anyone. The elected government should have just stepped down, as would any other democratically elected leader if there was huge disapproval amongst the people.

Egypt's armed forces have overthrown elected president Mohammed Morsi and announced a political transition with the support of a wide range of political, religious and youth leaders.
Armed forces chief General Abdel Fattah Al Sisi announced the suspension of the constitution and said the president of the supreme constitutional court would act as interim head of state until elections are held.
In a video statement, Mr Morsi said he rejected the measures that amounted to "a full military coup".

I have to say, when I hear of unrest and it turns out to be a military takeover it's kind of relieving. People are less likely to be killed when there's a military takeover.

It was a terrible time to do it - half of their solid income through tourism has been scared away. They might be able to hold it but money is going to be tighter.

FINALLY!!!!!
Morsi was going to become another Mumbarak. He hurt Egypt's potential economy with millions going to university with his authoritarian/conservative ignorance.
He time after time, put opposition political members in jail, supressed the people, to the point where Egyptian comedians were nervous.
Thank god the Egyptian Military took over. They know what's right. They've done right before setting up elections, they'll do it good again. They aren't even taking complete control too, they put a temp. president in.
I was getting so annoyed with Morsy when I followed Egyptian politics.
Lets hope Egypt becomes big. They have a good potential economy, let's hope that the new democracy will work.

this kind of crap can descend into civil war so easily...
Egyptian Islamists have called for an uprising against the country's new military rulers, after more than 50 supporters of ousted president Mohammed Morsi were shot dead outside a military barracks in Cairo.
At least 51 people died and more than 400 were injured in the shootings outside the Republican Guard HQ where Mr Morsi is believed to be being held.
"Morsi supporters were praying while the police and army fired live rounds and tear gas at them," the Brotherhood said in a statement.
But the army said the shooting erupted after "armed terrorists" tried to storm the base, killing one security officer and critically wounding six.
"The armed forces always deal with issues very wisely, but there is certainly also a limit to patience," military spokesman Ahmed Ali said.
This morning the Muslim Brotherhood called for more protests, while the US called on the Egyptian army to exercise "maximum restraint", while also condemning "explicit" Brotherhood calls to violence.
The violence has delayed the naming of a new prime minister, who was due to be announced on Monday.
Witnesses at the scene, including Brotherhood supporters, said security forces fired only warning shots and tear gas, and that "thugs" in civilian clothes carried out the shootings.
"They shot us with teargas, birdshot, rubber bullets - everything. Then they used live bullets," said Abdelaziz Abdel Shakua, a 30-year-old who was wounded in his right leg.

Frook, that's only happening because the Muslim Brotherhood is blaming the Christians for everything, and their supporters are doing armed attacks on anti-Morsy groups and Christian Churches, and so on. .-.

IT'S NOT A TAKE OVER. MORSI WASN'T A GOOD PRESIDENT AND WE HAD ENOUGH OF HIM. WE NOW HAVE A TEMPRARARLY PRESIDENT. SO THE MILITARY DIDN'T "take over" !!!

Funny you should say that as the Western World is saying that the President has been put under house arrest and that military officals will be running the country untill a new elected Govt. can take over.
So technically the military did take over. And if he was such a bad President; why does he have so many supporters...?
