Frook because of you and this topic I was at work the other day and I kept saying things like "Larby" instead of Lobby and "tomarto" instead of tomato...You would not believe how ridiculous I sounded!!! . . . And I got laughed at. . . Tomato does not have an R in it therefore it is toe-may-toe. End. Of. Story.

then how do you pronounce words like "calm" ? there's no R in that either

I say to-maa-to although there is no double a, it's sounds and is accurate to me.

I say here, the m and a and t and a is the difference. m and ay don't go well together. I reckon po tay sounds better but to-ma sounds great. To may sounds very weird.
