havent watched the vids, but I can say the world would be well and truly over populated by now without wars and death and disease. Keeps us all within the carrying capacity of the planet

Tl;Dr version.
That university professor speaking over there simply points out that the less people die, the more people you need to feed and the more poverty you cause.
That way, there are more poor people, and a greater struggle for power causing even more wars than what we already have.
Tl;Dr version of my comment:
We need population control and war is doing that quite well at the moment

We'd be forced to adapt,
Wars also make some land unlive-able for a very long time, time where we could be buildining homes for the increased population.
There are many projects currently of people living and farming in the desert another place to live
And tell me if I'm wrong but I read somewhere that Usa defense request 500billion in the us budget... No matter what the amount I'm sure that couldn't be used into research and places for our increased population if there was no wars.
People would learn to eat to their means because they can't over-eat and learn to diet. with research into healthier food getting funding cause of no wars.
???
my opinion

Re: Why we still need Wars Diseases and Famine.
That is implausible because of the way society is built.
Imagine someone telling you you can only eat THIS much in a day.
There would be chaos to say the least, especially when people still fret over meaningless things.
Plus, I doubt you realize what potential means.
If you kill 1 person in a war, say in 1940s, that person could have had 3 children which also got 3 children each (average given for children per person in the 1960s and 1990s respectively), that would give you 12 new people on planet earth right now, on average.
An estimated 25 million soldiers were killed, mostly male.
Say half of them were to have children (extreme underestimation to prove a point) and you'd have about 150 million more people right now.
Need I say how more people you'd have if the plague didn't wipe 1/3rd of Europe out back in the day?
You get my point. You don't kill some millions in a war, you kill their potential

Re: Why we still need Wars Diseases and Famine.
I'm not talking about 1940's I'm talking now where we could easily plan ahead for population booms eg. China.
and food\supplies etc could be rationed by the government or made to make your own food. If you wanted more then your daily amount then farm\make or trade for it yourself.Food would become more expensive and more people would be looking for the cheaper foods\living in their means or making their own food since it wouldn't be mass available for everyone in mass amounts like todays society
and does your facts factor in the deaths of diseases, health probs etc.
And plague has nothing to do with this it was a disease not a war\famine

it's sad to say but yeah these things are needed, mainly because only few nations in the world practice active reproduction & population control. China'a population has been going down and i think a lot of nations in the world that have overcrowded buzzing cities should do that too. I'd rather do that first then war and famine.

Re: Why we still need Wars Diseases and Famine.
I believe more countries would do population control in a sensible manner if they had too^
No need currently as we do have war\famine.
