I'm tired of making individual topics of each event, as much as they should get light shined on them individually, i'm just annoyed that it's gonna take up a lot of space (it does already)
so this current thread will be dedicated to all the police brutality in America.
Starting with this.

From the same website, this is very good. This is what police should do if another cop is abusing people. Bystander effect is a nasty thing (as seen in the miscarraige thing) and it's not stopped by just posting articles of the bad stuff happening. Police need to know the difference between punishment and abuse, and police DEFINITELY need to be trained to STOP this stuff from happening. It's horrible.
Side note, moved to serious discussion.

To be fair, in that video, the guy would not stand up. If he had just stood up there would have been no need for potential harm. I disagree with the way the officer was going about it, but I also have no sympathy for the guy on the floor.

Re: Police Brutality Thread
seems a little odd to me that police in the US continue to beat, abuse or shoot people... rarely happens in Australia. I put it down to police training. An aussie cop would only use a gun as the absolute last resort and rarely have I heard of one causing harm to someone without considerable justification. Not saying aussie cops are perfect, but they seem to be better trained and better controlled that the freaky a merry cans.

I attribute this difference in amount of crime to the fact that the USA has over 10 times the population of Australia.

Population doesn't matter.
Honduras is a shinning replica of America when it comes to police brutality and government corruption and cover up. America also has about 10x the pop of Honduras.

I'm merely suggesting that there's a potential that the cases of police brutality in Australia could be proportional to the USA's and that it only seems like it's not as bad is because of the lower overall population of Australia.

police incidents in australia would be 20, 30 maybe 40 fold less than what happens in a merry car. So population is not a factor. There is crime in aussieland, its just that cops don't feel the need to shoot people everytime they reach into their pockets.

Re: Police Brutality Thread
Actually population does matter.
If you got the same level of police brutality and like 100 people die a year of it in US, thats 10 people a year in Australia.
Same percentage of population, less people.
