My teacher told me about this a few days ago. She guessed that the terrorists were probably trying to bring down the economy of Bangkok by reducing income from tourists (because who would travel there when terrorists could plant a bomb in your hotel and kill you?)

all these 'people' are achieving is increasing world distrust of muslims. A truly ridiculous situation that is driven by fanatics with little idea about how humanity needs to work together.
