Death penalty is wrong in any case
We must separate our emotions from the rational thinking of this.
How do we truly get justice if we kill someone? No matter what kind of monster they are? Life goes on, whatever atrocities he of she occurred still happened.
No, Punishment should be used to rehabilitate the criminal, not solely for retribution.
I would go as far as to say that once you have convicted and apprehended even the most monstrous of people, like Saddam Hussain, Josef Frizel, Hitler. You should not kill them.
Obviously situations of war, self preservation and the like are different, but in the case of an apprehended criminal, the state, nor anyone else should take their life.
Now, obviously if someone killed a loved one of mine i would want to kill them, but it does not mean that i should.
death sentence
Re: death sentence
Where there is no doubt at all regarding the crime and guilt - ie 100% certainty someone did something - blood and knife in hand and caught killing the person and witnessed by lots of people, then I believe it is fine to use the death penalty. But in cases where all you have is 'beyond reasonable doubt', then it should never be applied. If there is even a small chance of someone being innocent, then it would be a travesty of justice to carry out the death penalty, only to find out later on that the person was innocent.

If it was an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth there would be a lot of blind toothless people in the world!

Re: death sentence
there are cases though
and I can pull them up later
where the person who commited the offense admitted they did it
and at most they get 40
with paroll
so then they might not even finish the original sentence
