Are you sure you antivirus is not a rogue?

Postby Roi-antimalwaregeek » 30 Oct 2009, 14:53

Hello everyone. This article is from roi the :ugeek:

Well I was just passing by the vB website and their poll question was about rogue antiviruses.
Well let me put across the basic meaning of a rogue antimalware
As we know that antimalwares are there to protect you from malware, the 'Bad People' have used a different technique to send viruses. They embed malware in a software having the name like "Antispyware 2010" which makes you think that it is a antivirus software. May sound funny, but it is a serious issue. Many people download them and later they suffer. Once the software is installed the software connects to the internet domain from where it downloads malware without the consent of the user. This really sounds dangerous. One has to stay careful while having a antivirus. Make sure you have antiviruses which are Microsoft Certified. You can see websites like vB, AV Comparatives and avtest to make sure your antivirus is genuine and a good one. Please stay safe people. Dont download rogues otherwise you will be holding the wrong end of the stick.

Please comment if you like.
