I woke up this morning, read the news and saw this article.
MP: Disabled Should be Able To Work For Less
A Conservative MP has suggested that people with disabilities wanting to get on to the job ladder should be able to offer themselves for work at below the minimum wage.
I read the whole article, and I was shocked at what he was trying to get across. He was saying that "in the real world", employers would always pick the "able-bodied" person over the disabled, whatever qualifications they had.
In his opinion, if a disabled person wants to get onto the job ladder, they should be prepared to work for less than £5.93 an hour for whatever job they are getting.
Personally, being considered disabled under our law, I think this is ridiculous. I don't see why I shouldn't be able to work for the same amount of money as any other doctor, nurse, scientist.
Do you think he's really being fair and it's a way to get people working?
Do you think he's treating disabled people as 2nd class citizens, taking into mind that he's a millionare already?

i do think that is rediculous. disabled people have a hard time finding jobs in the world, and that article, makes it even harder for them. If i owned a business, i would pay each emploer, depending on their rank, then same. Say if i owned a business, and there were C level wokers, B level workers, and A workers. all C lever workers, disabled, or not, will get paid the same amount per hour. Same with hte B and A level workeres. disabled people are just like us too, They are still human, but just with some, er... problems with them, But, that doesn't mean we should treat them like slaves, or how ever you can put it. thast is an injust to the world.

Yes, but except office work, all the disabled would be C level workers, thus paid less money than others.

I'm completely with you on that, if a job is offeredthat is suitable people should take it.
But with this MP's rules, if they ever did turn to law, this would happen:
Two people applied for a job, person A has no conditions, person B is disabled.
If person A got the job, he would be offered £20 an hour, and could accept or not accept it with not much fuss.
If person B got the job, he would be offered anything as a wage, £2, £3 an hour and still expected to take the job.
I certainly wouldn't work as a doctor on an emergency team for less than £5 an hour.

not really. if i see a disabled worker, doing good, and trying really hard, hten i would promte them. you have to look at the peformance level, AND effort. i would be fare. if someone disabled or not, doesn't try hard, and doens't do much, then they will stay at C level.

Nope. Sorry, but if you had a business and person A (no problem) produced 60 sth in an hour, while B (disabled) produced 10 in the same amount of time, it wouldn't be fair AT ALL to pay B more than A because he tries more. To be honest, I'd fire B and get another A.

But disabled doesn't always have to mean that they are less productive than other people, personally being considered disabled under Australian law I think it's crap to pay people with disabilities less than other people. There are many types of disability guys.
