Debate: Should girls ask boys out?

It recently occurred to me that it is usually the guy asking a girl out. Whenever you're watching a movie, going to prom, going on a date, the guy is the one who takes the intiative.
Why can it not be the other way round?
Is it weird for a girl to ask a boy out?
Is it wrong?
Is it right?
What do you think?

well,it is ok for a girl to ask a guy out,but i like to think we're more determined (?) to do so,and that's why it's mostly guys asking girls out...

lol XD how many times have girls asked me and i've turned them down .... except one which is a long time friend. (Pre-K)

This is why girls don't ask guys out:
Today, my friend wanted to ask out a guy that she's liked for a long time now. She was soo nervous she was probably about to puke, and you could almost see the fear in her eyes. But, she got up the nerve, and during lunch, she asked him. Guess what he said? No. And he didn't even give a reason. Just a no. She continued to be her bubbly self, as if nothing had happened, but she was crushed. Completely crushed. She'd gotten nervous and finally gotten the confidence to ask him for nothing. All for nothing.
Now do you understand men?
And that's also why I'm trying not to think about this guy that I have a major crush on. First of all, because he'll think it's weird that I'm trying to talk to him, and second of all, because he's dating a freshman... and THIRD of all, because I'm the little sister of one of his friends. I'm two years younger than him, but all I'd be thought of as is 'the little sister'. So yup.. that's the story of my life xD
