16 Year Old Stows Away in Airplane Wheel

So apparently there was this 16 year old who ran away from home in California, jumped the fence of the airport and hid in the wheel well of an airplane and ended up flying all the way to Hawaii...
How in the heck did he not get killed!? And what was he thinking!?

He was apparently thinking that he would like to go in Hawaii.
And hiding there can kill you mainly in 1 way: lack of oxygen, as some planes that I know of don't supply that area with oxygen, so when the plane goes really high up, the people there experience lack of oxygen.
Maybe that wasn't the case for this plane, or maybe the kid had 7-8 hours worth of oxygen with him.

He was lucky that he didnt get asphixiated..

Apparently it was like 30 below zero so he passed out from that and the lack of oxygen but when they landed in Hawaii where it was warm he just woke up and got off the plane like it was no big deal.

Yeah I heard that. Then they got him some cookies, water, and some other food lol.

This happened in South Africa on our plane once. It was only a two hour flight though so the guy was okay.
