Are you sure? The most restrictive gun purchasing conditions I've heard of are that background check you're talking about, no classes involved. Classes and such normally go along with the permit process.Shadowstar1922 wrote:mmm wrote:Turns out a permit isn't even needed to buy a weapon. If I was 21 I could go buy a handgun if I wanted to; I had thought one needed a permit BEFOREHAND (because, you know, that makes sense).
Depends where you area, really. In my city, you need to go through classes, have a thorough background check(they will go through every single record) and then if you don't know how to use it, the police department offers classes, depending if you want to be a hunter or just for defense. (though most of the time they will show you a private hunting class if your aim is to be a hunter). And even then, you need specific a specific license to be carrying guns on the street. You need to be personally approved by the PD's sherif to have the license saying you can carry guns in public( and he doesn't give it to just anyone).
Because of this, though, my city has somewhat lower crime rates related to guns that is, to other parts of the country.

Yes, the classes do go with the permit or license. I don't know what they call it. I've had friends and older adults talk to me about it and some use license, while others use permit.
But yes, i'm sure.

My friend josh who likes to hunt with his mother always complains about it every time he gets.
