The Clans:Chapter III. Please Read!

CHAPTER 3


Three weeks had passed since Treestar had died, and Brackenleg took over of TreeClan. Moonstar died only yesterday. Moonstar's deputy, Dawnfur, had become the new leader of MoonClan. Dawnstar's deputy was Firewatcher. Oakpaw had learned about hunting, and fighting. Deadfire was teaching him well. Tonight, was the Festival. The Festival is when all clans come to the camp of one clan, and share news. The leaders of all four clans speak to the clans. Then, the cats talk with each other. There is peace at the Festival, so there is no battling. “Oakpaw! Come! We need you in our hunting party!” Oakpaw looked at the camp entrance, and saw Stoneclaw, Thorntail, Dawnflower, and Applepaw, all sitting together. All their eyes had set on Oakpaw. “Okay!” Oakpaw shouted back, and ran to them. “Hi Oakpaw,” Applepaw said. Oakpaw nodded to her, and they headed out. “Okay, we are going to separate into to groups. Applepaw and Oakpaw, come with me. We'll move north, and probably meet MoonClan. Thorntail and Dawnflower, go south, and try to greet TreeClan if you can. I've already sent a hunting patrol to see WaterClan. Move out,” Stoneclaw ordered. The one big hunting patrol split into two. Soft paw steps echoed in RockClan territory. The cats went there separate ways. Then Oakpaw spotted a mouse, looking for food in the grassy rocks. It was the time when it was the warmest. It was greenleaf. Oakpaw got into hunter's crouch, and slowly moved forward, making sure not to brush anything on the dusty, rocky ground, and not make any other mistakes, that would sent the mouse running away. Then, Oakpaw pounced, and landed on the mouse. Oakpaw pinned it down, and gave a quick bite to the neck to kill it. “Great catch!” Stoneclaw praised. Oakpaw turned to see Applepaw stalking a bird on a rock.
Applepaw slowly crept to the bird, and right then and there, she pounced on it. The bird started to flap it's wings, and got away. Instinctively, Oakpaw ran up a tree to a branch and pounced to the bird. In mid air, Oakpaw clawed the bird down. As the bird hit the ground, it died, and Oakpaw landed in a thorn bush. “Ugh! That hurts! It stings so much!” Oakpaw growled. He dragged himself out of the bush, with small cuts everywhere. Applepaw tried to stop giggling. “Are you okay?” she asked. “No! Of course not!” Oakpaw hissed back. “You'll be fine.” Stoneclaw said. Oakpaw looked at the bird. It was twitching uncontrollably. Applepaw quickly killed the bird. “Why'd you do that? It was going to die on it's own,” Oakpaw asked. “Because prey shouldn't have to die a long death. It should be quick. It shows that we thank StarClan for the food. That's why we bite it's neck. To make a quick kill,” Applepaw replied. “Very good, Applepaw. I see you're going to be a great warrior,” Stoneclaw meowed. “Hello Stoneclaw. Young cats,” a creamy she-cat came to Stoneclaw, Applepaw, and Oakpaw, with many other cats. “Hello Dawnstar. Why have you some so early?” Stoneclaw asked.
“I thought this was the time. Rockstar said sunhigh, and,” Dawnstar said, and looked at the sun, “It's sunhigh. We did bring food.” “Thank-you,” Stoneclaw replied, and dipped his head. “What happened to you? What did you do, fall in a thorn bush?” A big gray tom came out of the group of MoonClan cats. “Skysong, he will be fine. Leave the apprentice alone. He's not even one of our cats,” Dawnstar ordered. Skysong glared at his leader. “So what? It's my duty to heal cats, no matter what clan they come from. In this case, I over power you. You can't order me, whether you like it or not,” Skysong growled. He glared at his leader one more time before turning to Oakpaw. “It's a good thing I brought some herbs. I am trading with Creekwing. Starlingfrost! Bring me my bundle of herbs! Smokefire! I might need yours! Both of you, come!” Skysong ordered. A creamy she-cat and a dark gray tom came through the MoonClan cats, with leaf bags in their mouths. “Um, thanks for your help, but, I'm okay, really. So, if you could just stop what you're doing there, that would be great,” Oakpaw said, as Skysong was sniffing Oakpaw's scratches
“Nope, can't do that. The thorns that cut you were poisonous. Hold still. If you move, the poison will move faster, and you may die. Only, if it's untreated. Don't worry,” the gray tom said. Oakpaw gulped, and began to shake a little. “Little one, stop your fidgeting! I'm not going to let you die!” Skysong hissed. Oakpaw tried to fight off his worriers, Skysong started chewing leaves up, and spat the juice on Oakpaw. The juice sizzled. “What's happening?” Oakpaw asked. Is this burning me? “The healing juice is fighting the poison, so it will sizzle. This is a sign that the poison didn't travel far. That's good,”Skysong said. “But, this will take a while, and I'm sure Dawnstar won't want to keep the other clans waiting. Sparrowwing and Ferrettooth! Carry this apprentice back to RockClan camp,” Skysong ordered. “You can't order my warriors!” Dawnstar hissed at Skysong. “One for all, they're not you property, and two, remember, I over power you in this. Keep that in mind,” Skysong growled back, then looked at Stoneclaw. “When ever you're ready.” Stoneclaw nodded, and turned around. Stoneclaw had a big smile on his face, trying to not laugh. He flicked his tail, to signal the MoonClan cats to follow. Sparrowwing and Ferrettooth each grabbed Oakpaw's front legs, and he was dragged. “We'll get your back legs,” a brown she-cat and blue tom were caring Oakpaw's back legs. It feels so awkward.
Oakpaw peered ahead, and saw Goldenfur on guard, with Leafpaw. Both cats had golden like fur, but Leafpaw’s was more orange. When Leafpaw looked at Oakpaw, she started giggling. As Oakpaw was dragged into the camp, Oakpaw growled, “ I bet you wouldn't like it if you had to be dragged in your camp because of poison.” Then Leafpaw looked serious. She walked in the camp with Oakpaw. “What happened?” Leafpaw asked. “Applepaw tried to catch a bird, but failed. I ran up a tree, and caught the bird, but landed in a poison bush. Skysong put herb juice on me,” Oakpaw explained. “Oh, that's what it was. I thought you were, um, using the dirtplace, cause there was something dripping off you. I guess it was the herb juice.”Leafpaw said. Leafpaw was the kind of cat, who joked a lot, but it was easy to tell. Oakpaw glared. “So, whats happening between you and Applepaw?” Leafpaw asked. “Nothing!” Oakpaw stuttered. “You are so going to be mates!” Leafpaw said with laughter. “I'm like, one moon younger than her,” Oakpaw replied. “So, my dad was a warrior when he started liking my mom, and my mom was two moons away from being a warrior. The good thing is, that, no one judges. I like Snakepaw. Well, not, like-like him. I guess we just have to see what turns out!” Leafpaw said. “Really? Wow.” Oakpaw said. Then the four MoonClan cats gently put Oakpaw down. Oakpaw was laying there. He gave a big sigh, and blew some dust away from his nose. “You okay?” Applepaw came to Oakpaw, and licked his fur, patting it down. “Skysong told me to check on you. Landed in a bush, eh?” Nighttail was walking to Oakpaw. He crouched down, and examined his scratches. “Wow. I doubted that Skysong said you landed in a poisonous bush. Thought he miss looked at it.” Nighttail said thoughtfully. “Now, don't move, at all. Okay. You can only move your head, your tail, and your front legs. Got it?” Nighttail said. Oakpaw nodded. “The leaders are about to speak. I must find Creekwing,” Nighttail said, and walked away.
“Leafpaw! Get me food!” Oakpaw asked. “Why should I?!? You haven't done any thing for me!” Leafpaw replied joke fully. She walked to the Fresh Kill pile. There, Briarwish, Sandclaw, Mintwhisker, and Ashspots were handing out food to the other clans. Oakpaw layed back, and looked at the black sky. The full moon was out, and gave the light for the cats to see. Sometimes, an owl or two would fly by, looking down on the ground for prey. The sky is so peaceful. “I got you your food! You owe me big time!” Leafpaw said, and had a rabbit in her jaws. Behind the rabbit, was a bird. “I already ate, so you can have the rabbit,” Leafpaw said and sat down, and ate her bird. Oakpaw positioned his head, so he could eat his rabbit. Oakpaw peered in the group of cats, and saw Applepaw walking through the crowd. I didn't notice her walk away. RockClan cats, could sit where ever they wanted, but the other clans had to sit in a certain spot. “Oakpaw's here!!!” Leafpaw yowled to Applepaw. The red cat turned, and smiled. She ran past the cats, and came to Leafpaw and Oakpaw. “Hi!” was all Applepaw said. She layed down near Oakpaw, and snuggled to him. “Well, I'm going to find Snakepaw,” Leafpaw said, and walked by Oakpaw to the crowd.
“All cats quite down! The leaders are going to speak!” Rockstar yowled. The voice ran through the clan camp, silencing all cats.
