Prologue
You know, kid, you got the case that makes you, and the case that breaks you. It happens to us all. You don’t know why it happens, but it does. You can’t do anything about it. It’s just there. You see, we’re all crime fighters here at the New York City Police Station. Over there, that’s Senior Homicide Detective Gavin McArthur, he’s been with the force for well over 15 years. I’m Chief Mori Chekowitz, I’ve been the leader of these mutts for as long as McArthur’s been drinking. Here, the streets are paved with blood and lined with bones. You gotta’ have the guts to the job, or you’ll have yours spilled on the side walk. But that’s enough with my story. Here’s the NYPD’s story.
Chapter 1
“Whaddaya’ think happened to the dumbass broad?”, questions Detective McArthur, an odd stare resonates from the old man’s eyes as the words spray from his lips. “Dunno”, his partner, Officer Harold Robertson replies, “Looks to be puncture wound on the neck.” Detective McArthur reaches down and ponders the cavity in the young woman’s windpipe. “Looks like the killer went from one side of the neck to the other”, McArthur tilts the woman’s head slightly, revealing a hole straight through the throat. “I’ve never seen a wound like this. It’s too big to be a bullet, yet looks too cylindrical to be a knife.” The Detective feels a slight tapping on his shoulder, he ganders over his shoulder to reveal a thin man dressed in a thick, dark orange jumpsuit. The man looks at the Detective with a worried sweat-logged pale face. The strangers light blue eyes dart around nervously. “Can I help you?”, the Detective asked. “I-I-I’m George Goodlove.” “Nice to fucking meetcha’ George!”, yells McArthur sending the man into a backwards hobble.

McArthur is an extremly rude bigot. From the prolouge it sounded like he was some kind of hero. Then again, thats how a good book is. Twists and turns nd things happeningyoud never expect.
