why is a unicorn called a unicorn?

it should be a unihorn,since uni:one,and horn,well,is a horn

Shadow is right - it came from a combination of greek and spanish,

Uni - unique, one, individual
Corn - Cuerno - that's corn in spanish, and and ceros is corn in latin/greek.

Really, corn/horn was always spelt with a C in most languages and still is, often.
