you've probably heard of wikileaks and how they released thousands stolen US diplomatic documents on the internet. So I wont go into the background of this. I find it ridiculous that the head criminal of this organisation, Assange, is audacious enough to demand an end to the US witch hunt of him and his criminal organisation. This delusional individual believes he's done the world a service by publishing stolen information. These guys need to be arrested and sent to the US and preferably executed. I do not see how they can possibly believe they are doing anyone a public service in releasing stolen information.
I believe every member and supporter of wikileaks should have all their bank account pin numbers, personal ids, social security numbers, visa credit card numbers and anything else of value released and made public. If they think it is fine to steal information that screws things up at an international level, releasing their insignificant, personal information should be of little consequence and should be done immediately. They cant have it both ways. These corrupt idiots, with a warped sense of what is right, need to have their asses kicked and sent to jail. Forget about moving him to Sweden, extradite the criminal directly to the US and let the US justice system deal with him.
what a bloody joke.

Alright. So, he wants the US to end its hunt. Okay. Then turn yourself in and we will stop
...Simple enough. You got yourself into this mess..Do us all a favor and turn yourself in. You are a scum that needs to be executed. I don't care what people say.

LET'S GO HATTERS!!!

Re: Assange demands US end its Witch Hunt - my rant
Now this is a double-edged knife...
First of all, creating a manhunt this big just for wikileaks means that the US either controls totally that organization, or that it has no links with it at all.
Stop it? You can't stop after you've published information supposed to stay hidden, even if it gives us, the fellow sheep a slight glimpse to what is really going on around here.
I don'g believe he'll get away and he won't, but the point is, after you start anything close to publishing stolen government top secret info, you're done for.

I agree. Wikileaks should be stopped. If the Government doesn't want the public knowing certain information, then they don't need to show it to the public. These men and all supporters should be exposed with every little public thing about them, and see how they feel. They won't be doing it anymroe after that.

But the point is, governments shouldn't have secrets from their people, as they are elected by them, for them. No?
For example, what if your class president that the class majority elected took money from all of you for a school project, and used it all to get a motorbike, but didn't tell you. Then someone exposed him, and now you all know the truth. What do you do, punish the person that opened your eyes or the one that basically stole money from you?

On the other side of things, what if the U.S is planning an intervention in Syria, but the released documents now make it impossible to do so because Syria is prepared? Some of the stuff wikileaks published listed the identities of U.S informants abroad, and may very well mean the death of the individual and their family. We have to trust politicians to not buy themselves motorbikes in the interest of the people. The best way to do this is by electing politicians whom you trust are the best choice for this nation, not over petty differences in religion or race.

that is an invalid point. If the government shouldnt be keeping any secrets, then it needs to release all tax information about all people in the country, release all medical information it has on records, release everything else about every aspect of the country.
It is a matter of accountability - the government IS held accountable for its actions and is scrutinised quite closely. That is more than enough. There is no need for every piece of information to be released.
There is a reason why certain information is not disclosed, and to use the lame excuse that the government should have no secrets is simply idiotic. The world is not a friendly place, governments need to keep some things quiet or all hell will break loose. Maybe the wikifools think that is ok, because they are too retarded to understand the consequences of having no organised accountable governments and complete chaos. Maybe they should move to a war torn country with a lovely civil war every day and drop dead.

@mmm
I don't know about you, but I don't think we have some "good" politician... At least of the ones we or you over in the US get to choose from. As for an intervention in Syria, i don't even need to comment on that as my views on US interfering with civil wars are well known. Now if it breaks on a larger scale...
@Frook
There is a difference between government secrets and individuals' secrets, or so I'd like to think. Scrutinised quite closely you say. From whom, exactly? I do unferstand that all hell would break loose if some secrets were let out, ok, but I can ser where this situation is going. Eg the microchip thing i mention at an earlier thread. Voted by the congress of the US. Did you hear about it? I check the international news and still didn't see anything about it until very recently. If such decisions are made for the people of the country, shouldn't they be at least mentioned in some front paper or by the media?
And ok, lets send them all to some civil war country, no problem with me. Do you know what will follow? Hell will break loose at that point too. See I think of myself as a mediocre voice. They have published way too interesting things about corruption of politicians etc, that if they get caught now, people will think that it is done for the current/next governments to have their name stay clean.
And even if you do punish them, shouldn't you also punish the politicians that were proven via wikileaks to have commited some sort of crime?
But anyways, the main point is: catch them, and it would be the current government's "death" at the very least, if not a new occupy movement.

This is why you should elect people who you know will not make those decisions. Good politicians would know what and what not to release to the public. Sadly, i don't think there is many politicians out there who are like this. >.<

Re: Assange demands US end its Witch Hunt - my rant
just a point - the releasing of diplomatic cables included personal information - maybe not of common people in the US, but of others. But that is not the issue.
Yes, the level of accountability and the checks and balances in place to keep a government in a good democracy can probably be no better. There will be bad things that happen, but in general, if the government screws up beyond a certain point, they will be removed. If an individual politician does something bad, they get caught, possibly prosecuted and removed. There will be people who get away with things, but that will always be the case - releasing diplomatic cables or whatever other secrets will not help that and will certainly not help with corruption issues.
this does not apply to a non democratic government or a bad democracy. The US does not fall into these types of situations.
in society there is a need for keeping information quiet. It is not the job of reckless stupid people to take it on themselves to act like Gods and release the information. People are elected into positions of power - these people will lose their positions of power if they screw up. The wikifools were not elected to act like assholes and handle stolen information.
The releasing of the information helped no one, made nothing more open, and will only contribute to a more secretive government, which will ensure idiots like that soldier will never again have the chance to steal secret information. You should congratulate the wikifools for making the world a more secretive place. Yay!
