My brother does this. He decided he didn't want to be with his first girlfriend, so he started ignoring her. And he kept ignoring her, and avoiding her, until one day she finally went to him and told him she thought it was best they broke up, and he eagerly agreed. That girl is a lesbian now, not saying it had anything to do with my brother, or that it's bad to be one, but she is. My brother is rude.
