Twilight Sparkle
Twilight's not very sociable, constantly focusing on her studies under Princess Celestia, ruler of Equestria. She is an anxious, obsessive-compulsive pony who is constantly trying to keep everything in its own place. She is usually trustworthy to her friends, and is definitely the most calm of the bunch, but seems to have trouble keeping many secrets at a time. She is skeptical of most superstition, and believes everything has a logical explanation.
She is a unicorn pony who represents the element of magic. She has a sneaky pet owl, by the name of Owlouscious.
Applejack
Applejack is a reliable and hard-working pony, although headstrong about doing things on her own. Applejack speaks with a Southern American accent, a thick southern drawl, similar to the accent of the southwestern Missouri Ozarks, where there are a great number of apple orchards. She seems to have no reservations about getting dirty or messy. Though Applejack is normally kind and considerate, she sometimes lacks patience with aggressive or rude behavior and returns it in kind, especially with Rainbow Dash. Applejack is an athletic country pony who works hard day and night. She is honest, but isn't the most patient of ponies.
She is almost always seen wearing a light brown stetson hat, which she usually only removes when sleeping, and is the only one of the six main characters to keep her mane and tail tied back in a "ponytail" instead of letting it fall loose. She is an earth pony who represents the element of honesty. When corrupted by Discord's influence, Applejack became a compulsive liar, throwing hurtful and sarcastic jabs at her friends. She has a pet dog named Winona.
Fluttershy
When Fluttershy is first introduced in the series, she barely manages to tell Twilight Sparkle her name out of shyness, going so far as to be reduced to whimpering in fear. However, she becomes very conversational when she notices Spike, imploring the baby dragon to tell her "everything" (which he does), and follows him and Twilight all the way to Twilight's residence. She is a kind pony, but awfully sensitive to others, being reduced to tears by many antagonists in the show.
Fluttershy is a Pegasus pony who represents the element of kindness. She has a pet bunny named Angel and cares for many other animals, which reflects her kindness in a minor way.
