seriously, stretching it out, adding new crap, watching it in 3D really made it worse.

If you don't compare it to the book, and for those who haven't read the book either, it's an alright film.

I've seen the Lord of the Ring's movies and they never really interested me. The hobbits were probably the most interesting part but I don't think I can sit down and watch 3 3 hour long movies about hobbits going on an adventure. And no I haven't read the description of it. So thank you for the heads up frook. I might end up reading the book though.

The producers of the first LOTR films got complaints because they had left bits out that were in the books. So they went all trollface and included literally EVERYTHING from the book. That's why it's so long.

OMG I watched it on Christmas too ...I felt the characters had good development; Thorin, Bilbo and Gandalf all together. Many parts were very unnecessary like Bilbo and Golum stalking for 30 min. Overall, it was a great movie and only one thing to say, It was by far better than The Avengers.

they stretched out the dwarves arrival at bilbo's house and eating part so much I just wanted to die. Tis the most boring part of the whole book and they made it into 1/3 of the whole movie.

Can't wait to see it! It'll be a few weeks... we're going to Hawaii in January and will see it then. Doesn't come to China until February. Ah well. But I'm looking forward to it.

Compared to the book, it's good. In fact I considered it a great film, possibly cause I loved LOTR and can't really judge the movie myself.
Obviously the producers were thinking of $$$ which is why its a trilogy.
But think about it, even the filler parts were great.
It wasn't Return of the king, I admit, but still it's worlds apart from some other movies coming out today coughcloudatlascough.
