Escaping a black hole?

Postby Lamb » 01 Jan 2012, 02:38

I had heard that a star had escaped a black hole.
I heard that there were two stars near a black hole that revolved around each other.
One of the stars got pulled in while revolving around the other but at that instant the other star was coming around and when the other star was pulled in to the hole, the other was flung out at the speed that made it possible to escape. That star has turned blue and is traveling quickly across the universe.

To escape a black hole, one must travel at least 10 times the speed of light, something impossible so far.

just because we think it is impossible doesnt mean it is.
we thought we couldnt go faster than the speed of sound and somebody broke the sound barrier .

Yes,that's why I used the "so far". It's impossible for a star to escape a black hole though, basically because stars move way slower than the speed of light.
And we are able to travel with the speed of sound, but one would literally have all their bones crashed, burned to ashes, and then disintergrated (if spelled correctly) at the 1st second of a travel with the speed of light. We need way more advanced technology if we want to avoid these effects...

Once something gets to the event horizon, there is no escape for it. There are no exceptions to that. Light can't escape,so that means nothing else can.

Well there is the speed of light and then there is FASTER than the speed of light. Keep that in mind. If something is going faster than the speed of light, then there is a possibility that it can escape.

Stars don't travel faster than the speed of light. This whole thing is probably some kook's theory about how the world is going to end.

There's the possibility that Einstein is wrong, and faster than light speed is possible, but I'm sure the scientists who examine the incident won't find this to be the case.

Well, we don't know about most of the laws of stars yet...So maybe it is possible

There's a problem with stars travelling faster than the speed of light. Images of faster-than-light stars would travel faster than other images, making their apparent location incorrect. IF these stars travel faster than the speed of light, they never came close the the blackhole.

No one said that the whip of the gravitational pull of the other star could have sparked a speed of faster than the speed of light.
