I know it was a long time ago, but the topic was brought up in my History Class, and i wanted to know what you guys thought. Dark Green is Today Mexico, and the light green and dark green represents Mexico before the Mexican-American War. When Mexico became a country in 1810-1823, Mexico abolished slavery. A large ammount of American immigrints came into Texas, which was owned by Mexico. The Americans were furiated, since they couldn't keep their slaves when they came to Mexico. The slaves were free. Most of the population of the land became more and more American. Texas had then gained independence from Mexico in 1836. 12 years later, Texas and Mexico got got in a war when Mexico was trying to regain their land. The USA had then sided with Texas, and conquered all the Mexican lands in North America up to the Rio Grande. That land was oriogionally owned by Mexico, and it was where the Aztecs came from, which was the group that at the time, most Mexicans were distantly linked too. Mexico in the past decades (1824-1840) delt with the two Yucatan Rebellions, numerous NA(Native Americans) rebellions that wanted to set up their own country, the Texan Rebellion, and the Central American rebellions. When the USA delcared war, Mexico had no stable military and quickly lost the war. Then Texas joined the USA. I believe The USA joined in the war just to gain land. I believe at the time that, the USA was greedy for land, and saw a chance to gain land. The lands were origionally owned by Mexico, and it was a war between Mexico and Texas. It feels ironic how in the Mexican-Texan War, the USA joins in, but during the American Civil War, no countries officially took a side. What do you guys think?

two words. Manifest Destiny. america believed it was destined to conquer that land. also the aztecs did not come from that land bro. and they settled well south of the land that was taken.
the other thing is, the only reason that land has any value now is because we own it. if mexico still owned it, i would bet it would not be as developed as it is, and that some European power would have claimed it.
im not saying what the usa did was right, im saying that it is what happened. it is what it is man. im happy it happened personally. i like socal the way it is now, crazy liberal los angeles and all.
True beauty lies in the heart, so i must look like stein

The Aztecs did come from that land, Danny. They made a permanent settlement more down south near the Yucatan, but the Aztecs DID come from that area before their permanent settlement.

Yeah, and all the Americans are Europeans (which they actually are, and not the best kind). Anyways, I don't really care where the Aztecs came from, I care about a war and what it caused.

Raven, all humans came from Africa. They lived in Africa, then slowly spreaded through the Sinai Peninsula, and dispursed into the Middle East. So, When Shadow is saying, and All Americans are Europeans, trying to well again, make Europeans look good, all Europeans are actually African also.
