As I mentioned in the Freeworldgroup Antimalware section about my holidays, this is one of my few topics. In this topic, I am going to discuss about viruses, trojans, antimalware and other things related to computer security. This topic has been created with the intention of giving you a basic idea on what are the latest happenings in the IT Security world and solutions on some problems related to computer security. For example, if there is a major virus outbreak, I may post the information about it over here along with the solution; or I may provide you information about a previous major malware outbreak. Hello everyone. Well this post just has basic information. This is because most of us ignore this. If you do, then please do not comment incredulously. Now coming to the point, most of you know that internet, though it has advantages, it is dangerous. The document which you have in your computer may be robbed within minutes and you may not notice until it is too late. The cyber criminals do not warn you in advance and nor do they tell you that they have robbed you or something else. If you do not have knowledge about IT Security, it is always better to have a antimalware in your computer. I would say that nowadays the types of threats are increasing, so it is better to have a total security suite then to have a simple scanner. Although no company provides 100% protection, it is better to have something than nothing. I would recommend that you buy 1 software and install it in your PC.

Depending on your freeware for PC protection would put you at risk. However, you can keep one freeware in a disc as a backup. It does not get over when you install a software in your PC, you have to update it periodically and run a system scan once a week or once a fortnight. This way, you can at-least build yourself some basic protection. By doing this you decrease your vulnerability towards IT threats.
This was my first main paragraph. I would cherish if all those reading this comment and join the discussion. After all, we can improve ourselves with new ideas and the sources of these ideas are people. So, do comment. I will come with the next post soon.

What about Macs?

Are they really safer than PCs? I've been told I need no anti-virus software on my mac, and i downloaded a free scanner to make sure?

Well, to be exact, nobody is 100% safe. Using a mac will make you less vulnerable to IT attacks. That is because most of the threats are directed at Windows Operating Systems. However, looking at the way Mac is rising, there will be threats for Apple operating systems and other operating systems.

In this post, I would like to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using proprietary software as well as trial versions.
As I have mentioned, it is recommended to use an antimalware. Most of the time, the normal question is: which type should I use? After that, we see most of the customers going for the free versions. As a case study, I have observed that the major advantage and reason of using a free version is obviously the no cost bar for the product. If we consider the normal user, I do not think we should compromise the security of out computer just because we get a free software. Instead, I would say you buy the product. The advantage I find in free softwares is the try before you buy feature. We can use the software for a month and then decide whether to buy it or not. However, depending totally on a nagware is not a recommended option if you are an average user. The advantage of using a proprietary software is that you get the best protection there is. Although nothing can protect you 100%, using a proprietary software decreases the risk of getting affected by a virus. I checked out some statistics, wherein I found that users which have used proprietary softwares called the computer technician less often in contrast to those who utilised a trial version. As far as the updates are concerned, the one which has bought the software gets the priority while the person using the trial wouldn't. This is what I personally feel when I think on this topic. I would cherish if i get comments from other users. I hope not to get incredulous comments though.
