Why We Still Need Feminism

First of all, Feminism is completely different in the western world and the developing world. I'm pretty sure all of the posts here are regarding western Feminism which I don't think needs to be radically changed right now. Feminism in the developing world is an entirely different issue because Feminism there is genuinely needed (as you have so kindly shown) and it is a major problem. The difference between the west and the developing world is that over here in the west, we have progressed so much more in terms of modern values, whereas the developing world still has to. Saying that someone who says they don't need Feminism condones and allows this kind of barbarity is a very gross generalisation.

When someone says we don't need Feminism I regard the comment contextually-in pretty much all cases that person is from the developed world so is talking about western Feminism. Considering women on the whole aren't getting killed or abused or outrageously discriminated against in the west, I think that's a valid comment to make. If someone made a comment concerning specifically the developing world and it's apparent lack of need of Feminism (according to them) then I would be worried.

Also, I'm very curious about the source of this information-'when will I get my rights'.

this post was instigated by somebody in real life saying feminism is never needed because nothing very bad ever happens when its not there - but as i posted the first half in the wrong topic i forgot to write about that

Now, it's true that a female accumulates inappropriate harassment, where as males generally and automatically get the "arrogant", "Ignorant" and "disrespectful hard-man" stereotype.

Harassment comes in all forms and sizes, usually the insults worded are taken out of context, for example "He's so gay." Usually, in most cases they don't mean "homosexual" they just mean "stupid" or "idiocy."

You can't take the insult that has been taken out of context and use change it so it's against any form of equality

I'm all for equality. Political power, same wages and whatnot, but I have seen many females scream for equality one minute, and when in certain situations they get treated the same, they're the complete opposite. You can't pick and choose what rights you have, either you have them or you don't.

First Off- Women in the USA are hardly mistreated on a large scale, individual people do, but that goes the same for everyone. So yeah, Feminism isn't needed HERE. In placeslike Saudi Arabia, fuck yes it's needed, but you can't go and attack people like that, it isn't right, and you are actually discriminating against the gender you supposedly "support".
Secondly- Being all politically correct isn't for everyone, I agree, people should know about their government, but they shouldn't go all lawyer if somebody says something a TWINGE incorrect.

the picture said it fights for everyone's rights. well also some people are unable to fight for rights such as in Saudi Arabia, so we try to fix the problems that we can try to fix. yeah there are awful problems elsewhere - but saying "your problem doesn't matter because there are worse problems" isn't okay

it wasn't just about a guy saying hi, it was the creepy guys calling from down the street and yelling hey sexy - its not a compliment. if it was it would be taken that way. when the majority of women don't like it then maybe it should stop? idk
