I went to a school where we had a uniform and the point is to put everyone on a level playing field. This makes it so kids aren't judged by how they look but who they are as a person. This also makes it easier for the school to identify those who do not belong if there is a field trip. Also, this takes the whole inapropro dress code slut shame controversy thing out of schools. I agree with uniforms completely up until like middle school when kids should learn to express themselves and who they are.

EDIT: This also subconsciously separates "work" from "play" in your mind by making you wear something you would never be caught dead in in public, so you change when you get home. This separates the school as a place to work not a place to play in your mind and helps focus better on working.

You wont know who someone is until, you can see what clothes they wear. And since everyone wears uniform , there's not much to talk about...

I haven't really done anything where I don't need a uniform. Primary and secondary schools both have compulsory uniforms. Sixth Form has a "dress code" which is essentially a uniform. Then I worked at Cineworld, Pizza Hut and now what I do now. Even Uni kind of has a uniform. You gotta be smart.

But yeah, it basically does help. The "nerds" in most schools probably tend to wear less fashionable clothing that makes them sort of unpopular and they stand out from a "popular" crowd, whereas with a uniform they could sort of feel better sitting with popular kids as people might not notice, and they sort of wriggle their way into the popular crowd like that. Honestly, that's what I pretty much did between Year 7 and 8. I started off pretty unpopular, then I sat with the popular kids and that eventually made me look popular so people started to hang out with me.

I cheated, basically. As always.

Do we really want necro a post? I mean, some of us have been but it's not really forum etiquette to necro a topic.

I'm just going to post here :3

Anyway, I've been to both types of schools. Uniform and Non-Uniform schools.
I haven't noticed a single difference.
Imo, School Uniforms are only used in "bad" schools to put a stop to dress code violations to make the school look like a better option. (Just a personal opinion).
But yeah, In all types of schools I haven't seen anyone judge for the clothes they're wearing.
The only thing that gets people judge aboot, is how they look (their face, ie attractive or nah), skin color (in a few occasions if you hang out with racist people), your phone, shoes (usually only when you're capping and someone's capping back), your hair, sexual orientation, how weird you are (what you talk aboot, how you talk), or how clean you are
Ok that's actually quite a bit, but none of it has anything to do with the clothes you wear.

I don't personally see the point in uniforms during the school day. Other than to make the school look better in a disciplinary pov.
