Re: The God Problem.
sometimes people do things that they shouldn't, thus horrific events take place. I agree with munter's points. Theyre one of the most popular points brought up, and yet they say "god cant do everything" then hows he all powerful? its a quastion i ask constently, however im still a christian. Most people believe in gods and such to make themselves happier and to obey rules. It's a rule systemin sorts. Many dont break those rules.
Re: The God Problem.
My uncle happens to be a priest, so we are having such conversations A LOT.
I'll tell you what he once told me
"people need something to believe in. God does exist, but we have to be thankful that he is not like 99% of the world think he is like"
That, in my opinion answers everything. Now, about the theory of darvinism, I believe in that theory, but i also think that many coincidences occur in that theory. And, in a final analysis, what is a miracle? It is many coincidences that occur with an order so exact, that can be caused only by a miracle.

Re: The God Problem.
God does not create bad things, satan does, satan was a jealous angel who tried to kill god, but was sent to exile in a prison, also known as hell, the reason bad things happen is that he cannot change human will, that is up to us, for we are an independant species, and to say that we were created by a "higher power" is stupid, god loves us, the least we can do for him is aknowledge that we know he exists.
so, for all you non-believers out there, suck on THAT!

Re: The God Problem.
problably the best answer to your question is to read the Book of Job in the Bible, honestly its my favorite book and u may not like the answer at first but if u think about it for awhile itll make sense

Re: The God Problem.
I'm taking another stab at this one, since we've been talking about predestination in church lately. God creates man with free will to do either good or evil; he already knows who will act in what way. But how can God knowingly create a human being he will have already condemned to hell and still be all good? Maybe God will use the person to save more souls. Maybe this person has no soul, and is simply a tool God is using. In my mind, it seems more likely that the route to heaven is less cut and dried than simply doing good works, so maybe this individual fills an unknown requirement for obtaining eternal life.
But what about tsunamis, fires, murders etc.? Most 17th and 18th century philosophers took the easy way out, claiming that God is a clock-maker, and once started, the world ticks on without regard to God's wishes. This supports God's goodness, but rejects His power. A similar theory is that God has no wish to intervene, thus preserving his power, but rejecting his goodness. I agree with Tyler on this one. Read Job; I'm not going to attempt to reword something so wonderfully phrased.

Re: The God Problem.
haha thanks mmm and yeah actually a great discription of Hell is the first part of Dante's Divine Comedy: Inferno
basically it is explained that God created Hell out of his love for us, some people choose to be so consumed by sin that when they see heaven, they dispise it and reject it, they actually prefer Hell since they are so consumed by their sin so God gives His people what they desire: Hell

Re: The God Problem.
Simple word....SIN.....Sin has entered into the world. If you think that God did this you are wrong. It is under our own humanly intentions from Adamn and Eve in the Garden of Eden that sin entered the world. If sin had never entered, there would be no wars, no fear, nothing to be afraid of...Everything would be perfect. We would be the closest with God.
