I Guess It Can & Cannot Be,
But Is It Ever Good To Cover Up A Bad Feeling With Lies, More Pain, Or Try To Pretend The Problem Doesnt Exist?

Re: Something On Your Mind.
I would have to agree, to an extent.
-When I am mad/sad, whatever the case may be, I hide it, laugh it off, and pretened the problem doesn't exist. I'm just that type of person. People don't really affect me in a sense that i'd break down, often. I have friends that help me out, or people I talk too, like counselors. After all, They are there to help you.
-If you are feeling bad for such a terrible reason, lying wouldn't be a good way to cover it up. Just give it time, and wait it out, laugh it off, and don't let them see you cry!

I agree with Emo Kid. To an extent. I used to do it all the time. Since, when I did show it, everyone would always cluster me and beg me to share my personal life with them, when I have major trust issues, and don't trust anyone but a few people. I hide my pain(when i did have it, my life's going ok now) to get away from everyone nagging me, coz then I would eventualyl flip out on them, and they would claim I need anger management.
So, to a point, you should hide it. But, you should always have someone to talk about it. Talking about it makes you have more of a sense of the situation, makes you think about what's happening and you might realize why it happened, or realized something new, and it helps relieve anger.
So hide it from most, reveal to those who you love and you know who are willing to listen to you.

Face a problem for 30 seconds that will certainly ruin your day, or hide from it for a lifetime...
Re: Something On Your Mind.
I'm going through a tough time as well at the moment, but keep it in me for reasons of others having it worse off, the problems being too personal, or me just not knowing anyone to talk to.
I'm still dealing with memories of things that happened over 5 years ago on a daily basis because I don't share it with anyone. This isn't healthy, and I know it isn't. I know because I develop small ways of blowing off this steam, some bad habits or some ambivalent. Cursing under your breath for no reason, becoming overly emotional.
Don't cover it up very long, I like what shadow said. Have some self restraint, but talk through things with your loved ones.

Re: Something On Your Mind.
I have had too many of bad phases since 1st grade. Never had friends before. Past couple of years I developed a friend circle. I have many thingss in my mind which can't be shared. There are so many random moments which just strike me out of nowhere and I feel terrible. In such cases, it's ok to just keep quiet and watch how things happen in front of you. Try even to look at yourself externally as if you were another person. Yes, you can tell you're loved ones your experiences but do so in limit because they maybe loved ones today, tomorrow they might be something else.
Things happen for a reason, I wish I knew these reasons.

Apparently on this thread, only Shadow has it right.
Do not keep in the things that bring you pain, the things that make you suffer. If you feel bad about something, share it with somebody you trust, somebody you love. Your family, your friends, share it. People can help you.
You just have to ask for it.

sorry foop but must agree with roi. limit it as i have been screwed so many times by opening up too much and then having it come back at a later date.
orb i recently ended a chapter of my life that was quite horrid and im bringing yet another to a close as well. i confide in few people but i do confide in them, if anything, write it out, sing it out, something. just find an outlet that may not directly convey what is wrong, but that still releases the emotional strain it causes.
if you can find a way to do that, and it isn't something that's looked down upon (like killing people. that is frowned upon in most places) then you'll do well. and always try to keep a bright eye on the future

Re: Something On Your Mind.
I tell someone too much and i feel invaded, ignore their request to know about me and i feel rude. So i developed this format of thinking, when i'm mad or sad i think about why i'm that way, and then i try to think exactly how a stranger who has no personal connection feels. This works when i have no one to talk to, which is very often because of trust issues, just been let down to much. And then i try to see what i should say and what just wouldn't matter either the next day or to others.

Then you trust the wrong people. If things are that bad, talk to your room's wall.
But, here's the catch: nobody that has trusted a person (even if backstabbed) has made a topic about feeling fed up of keeping things inside them, have they?
If you do tell someone you REALLY trust (who tells their secrets to oprah anyways?) you have a 10%-50(tops)% chance of being backstabbed.
If you hold it in you, you have a 99% chance of being unable to cope with it. Plus it stacks up with other stuff and finishes u off
